Works just as it says it will Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I joined the ranks of digital mode users about two months ago. When looking for a digital interface, I opted for the MFJ-1204D8.

Note: All the interface models that start with MFJ-1204 are the same box, the suffix (in this case D8) just identifies which radio cable came with the box. All that is required to use the box with a different radio is a different cable and a different jumper setting inside.

After trying digital with one radio and getting nowhere, I finally figured out the radio just wasn't compatible with the WSJT software. Close, but no cigar.

When I decided to use an older IC-735 for digital, I called MFJ and asked for the D5 cable. Not only did I get the D5 cable, but the package also included an entire new jumper block already wired for the IC-735. Instead of moving jumper wires, I just pulled out the original jumper block and pushed in the new one. Add the new D5 cable, and everything worked.

Controls are simple, one knob each for transmit volume and receive volume. That's it.

The USB cable can be changed for a longer cable or a new cable, just take off the top cover, snip the plastic cable tie, and change cables. Easy.

All in all, this may be the best hundred bucks I ever spent on radio gear. The 1204 isn't flashy or sexy, it just sits there and quietly makes digital work. And that's exactly what I wanted an interface to do.
