It is not robust, cheaper connectors broken easily Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
As a switch it is very useful for using Speakers or headphones but the material used is very poor, bad quality of connectors (I had to buy additional ones and changed twice). It is too expensive for the quality delivered. All the BHI products that I have acquired are build on poor quality material (like this one or NES-10 MK4).

2 Position Switch Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I use this switch with my ICOM 821H for my satellite Contacts. It allows me to quickly switch from my external speaker to my Boom Headset running thru my ClearSpeech DSP base module so I don't get feedback in my signal from the Satellite. With shipping it was almost $46 so it is not a CHEAP solution but it was a quick solution & I like the housing it is built in as well.I also have the bhi 1042 (6 position box) on another desk with (6) radios which I have been using for several years & it has done an Awesome job for me.I use a ClearSpeech DSP module with both units so bhi & ClearSpeech are working together for my needs. The bhi products are very well made & they look very nice in my Man cave/Ham Shack as well.I would buy either product again if I needed them & I would recommend them to others.

Audio Changeover Switch Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a simple and relatively inexpensive device that works a treat. It justifies its purchase because it allows the use of an outboard DSP from the manufacturer (and no doubt other manufacturers too) with two separate receivers providing a terminations for the unloaded ports. Unfortunately, it shares with various other products from the manufacturer a somewhat insubstantial method of construction.

I also own the NEIM (no longer available) and there to be seen are all the trademark disposable attributes on that too. The fact is, BHI products work very well and no way would I denigrate any of them on function, but with respect to fit and form they do need to offer some semblance of longevity. Simply blanking a hole in a plastic box that lines up with PCB mounted sockets is not acceptable and this little device also rejoices in a captive cable with no strain relief.

None of the foregoing would prevent me from purchasing any other product from BHI because they all seem to be impressive, but it simply needs to be stated again and again until the manufacturer accepts what I and others have concluded. Many of BHI's products are relatively quite expensive when compared to the equipments they are paired with.

Although unrelated, I have been unlucky in my odd attempts to communicate with the company, but I understand it's a one man band and as such can be forgiven, but what if you need support?
