| THE Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread!! |
Time Owned: 3 to 6 months. |
RemoteTx is truly the greatest thing since sliced bread!
I travel a lot for work; I was constantly missing out on Dxpeditions and HF nets that I'm involved with, and general operating. RemoteTx has changed all of that for me.
I had wanted a way to operate my station remotely, but I live in the country and have terrible internet (I might as well be back on dial-up again) and one of the biggest issues with my dsl internet is my provider wants to charge $25 a month for a static IP. Forget that!
I stumbled across RemoteTx when I learned my friend Bud N3TIR was using it when he traveled for vacation. I looked into it and thought "this is too good to be true". But I also knew how good Bud sounded on my end when he was using it. I assembled the necessary parts and signed up for a 30 day trial. My mind was blown at how well this setup works, even with my crappy internet!
Marcus is an absolute pleasure to communicate with; he will answer every email you send and offer help and suggestions to make your experience and remote operation better.
Rather than have to hookup/unhook a radio every time I came home or left, I decided to dedicate an Icom 7300 to be my Remote radio, and I have other HF radios I use when I'm in the shack. With Marcus' help I added an additional relay board to my Raspberry Pi that allows me to operate my antenna switch box, so I have remote access to my entire antenna farm. I originally came up with a different and more cumbersome way to switch between my antennas, and I sent Marcus a video of what I did; he was impressed but shared the better way, and with some extra programming on his part using NodeRed, I can switch the antenna's thru the RemoteTx software, no extra apps or devices needed.
One thing I have noticed and greatly appreciate is that Marcus is continuing to expand the capabilities of the software, recently adding the ability to see the pan-adapter from the 7300 remotely. I know he is also working on being able to control other devices in the shack such as antenna rotors. That will be the next step for me, being able to turn the beam remotely. His continual improvements to the experience are not going unnoticed.
I purchased and put together most of the accessories Marcus has listed on the website (Arduino USB PTT, USB knob for tuning, etc) I had never done anything with the Arduino platform when I assembled the Arduino USB PTT board, and I promptly experienced a programming issue; I emailed Marcus about it and in a short time he had helped me get things figured out and working. I also purchased the extra sound cards and cables so that I can run FT8 and other digital modes remotely as well, and let me tell you it too works flawlessly.
I truly cannot recommend this product enough! Marcus has done a fine job creating this and his customer service is some of the best I've ever dealt with. You won't be disappointed. |

| Remote Your Rig |
Time Owned: 3 to 6 months. |
| Over the years I’ve tried most of the current remote applications out there and not one compares to the ease of installation and the quality of the RemoteTx. I won’t bash the other products but I wish I would have known about RemoteTx before I wasted money on the other systems. That said I use RemoteTx with my IC-7100 for FM 2/440 repeaters or simplex or SSB. I also use my IC-7300 for HF operation at times for special events I will run my AL-811A also. I use smart plugs on the amp, power supply and raspberry pi that way I can turn it all on and off remotely, RemoteTx can turn on and off the radio. I wish I could give it 10 stars it’s a great system for those that have the supported radios. The subscription fee is more than fair for what you get. Marcus is a great developer and I don’t think there are any new screenshots of the latest remote screen but it’s very similar to RS-BA1 and it has a really nice functional waterfall display, give it a try 30 day free trial. |

Nov 9, 2022 update:
New version with real time Icom spectrum scope is terrific.
I now have my iPhone and RemoteTx connected to my vehicle’s Bluetooth and Apple Carplay media system using Toyota’s built-in mic and JBL speakers. I’ve also added the flic 2 wireless Bluetooth transmit/receive button.
Very pleased with RemoteTx!
Original review:
Set up went smoothly. Any questions were promptly answered within an hour via email. If you wish to use your iPhone to transmit remotely this product does the trick. Receive and transmit audio is very good with very little latency. Use it with my IC-7300 on home network and over AT&T. Very happy.

| Very easy to install and use |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
I have tried various remote systems over the years, but remotetx beats them all in easy install and use. No ip or port setup, just plug and play. No PC required on the remote site.
I use it on iphone, ipad, Mac and PC. Driving through tunnels or losing cell signal, the system pics up the link again when in coverage automatically. I also have the ptt/vfo button. I use the IC-7300, and hope the 705 will be supported as well for satellite remote.
Highly recommended! |

| Works on Wireless Hot Spots |
Time Owned: 6 to 12 months. |
RemoteTx works exceptionally well for us.
We're using the RemoteTX at the Johnson Space Center radio station, W5RRR. We use a Verizon Wireless hotspot for internet access into the shack. However, we soon learned that today's popular commercial ISP hotspots are all implemented with CGN (Carrier Grade NAT) which restricts Port Forwarding End to End services needed for conventional remote control of ham radios. I believe there are ways to make this work, like VPN tunnels, but unless you have the expertise and patience, making remote control work with CGN is a headache.
I stumbled onto RemoteTx, which professed a solution which handled the remote services via a backend cloud. Bottom line, it works- and beautifully as well. Marcus (owner) has pre-configured several popular radios, (IC 7x00 series, Elecraft KX, K3x, and the Yaesu FT911/a). Luckily, we have a FT991a and with his setup, it was pretty much a plug n play setup.
As others have mentioned, RemoteTx is highly efficient. The latency is minimal, and it runs so much more responsively and consistently versus, for example, my Smartlink remote Flexradio 6400 implementation at my home QTH.
To date, our FT-991a at the JSC club shack is used regularly to check into HF SSB (nets, DX, POTA, contests) and we're also using it for 2m Simplex and Repeater QSOs. Just this past week, we've implmented RemoteTx control of our Ham-IV rotor controller by using a the popular ERC USB rotor interface which connects directly to the dedicated RemoteTx Raspberry Pi at the shack. Marcus' pre-loaded interface for this setup is so easy to use, especially with the graphical rotor controls that automatically pops up in the browser when connected.
Lastly, we also successfully added a RemoteTX remote control antenna switch, using the GPIO on/off pins off the Raspberry Pi. Toggling the Plug 1 button on the RemoteTX screen sends a relay closure control to our antenna switch. Now our FT-991a can use our R8 vertical for 10m-40m general QSOs, or switch to our TH7DX triband yagi ontop of our 80' tower while also have the luxury of full remote rotor control.
RemoteTx is a very successful implmention for those that have radios that can exploit the interfaces RemoteTx has already deployed. Marcus has provided responsive, detailed support for questions and guidance- which makes this service work so well. I expect more users will help grow additional capabilities and features over time (e.g. Marcus has some Node Red flow/config implemented already). For me, I personally enjoy operating remote into our club station using my iPhone. So fun!

| Cruising with RemoteTX |
Time Owned: more than 12 months. |
My remote setup consists of an IC-7300, LDG 600w external antenna tuner, Green Heron rotator control, and a Tennadyne T8 LPDA at 72 feet.
I wanted to operate remotely while on a recent cruise with the XYL to Bermuda aboard the Celebrity Summit cruise ship. Marcus provided me with a "beta" version of the control software that would work with the Green Heron controller. I was able to rotate my antenna and everything worked superbly!
First of all, if you cruise, you'll want to pay the extra $15 or so per day for the "premium" internet connection that allows streaming. Even with that, at sea using the satellite internet service, I experienced network latency on the order of ~750 msec or so. Although this has nothing to do with the RemoteTX service itself, the latency issue does have an effect on operations. I was at sea during the 4th of July "13 Colonies" event and managed to work 10 of the 13 colonies from the cruise ship. The problem with the high latency issue is how quickly the network recovers from transmit to receive and vice versa. I found that "contest style" operations, like the 13 colonies event, were a bit tough since there was almost a second of delay with each transmission. Some of the quick operators were not patient and I would miss part of my report and have to ask for a repeat. For normal SSB QSOs, the higher latency should not be a problem as most casual operators are not that "quick on the draw." Especially, if you tell them you are operating remotely and need a slight delay before they come back to your transmission. I had several casual SSB QSOs with operators who had no idea that I was operating remotely until I mentioned it.
I also tried to work CW with the 750 msec latency, but that was almost impossible as some characters sent would drop out and cause bad copy on both sides. When I returned home, I played around on my home network and decided that one really needs to have a latency of not more than 150 msec to operate CW somewhat successfully. Fortunately, the RemoteTX display provides the network latency information so it is easy to see.
I was also able to use the Bandscope display for the IC-7300 and that helped me find the pile-ups where the 13 colony stations were operating on the bands. This is a great feature although you really need a laptop or PC screen to display it properly. Marcus said it was not yet optimized for small cell phone displays. The standard RemoteTX display works fine on a cell phone.
The RemoteTX system beats all others I've tried! I played around with MFJ's RigPi system but the audio setup is clumsy using the Mumble application and I was never really satisfied with the way it worked. RemoteTX works MUCH better! For $70 a year, it can't be beat!
Thank you, Marcus, for a super product and great customer service!

| A fantastic remote app |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
I have a Icom 7610 and Elecraft KPA500 amp.
I used Icom's RS BA software for about a year, the setup was difficult to say the least so when I moved I took the opportunity to try RemoteTx and I'm glad I did.
RemoteTx is easy to set up and operate AND I can now control my amp without having to depend on having a computer turned on all the time.
There were some setup problems related to a bad RS232 cable I was using - Marcus was able to diagnose the problem and fix it very quickly - the customer service you get with RemoteRx is second to none.
If your in the market for no hassle remote operating, do yourself a favor and get RemoteRx. |

| It's the nuts! |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
First off a little background.
I have always wanted to be able to do remote opperation so when I bought my transceiver in 2009 I bought the Ten Tec Omni VII with the ethernet connector on back so that I could operate remote. It worked.. but any.. really anything could cause the transmitted audio to sound like max headroom. So I had to do things like shut down every process on the computer other than the one for transciever operation etc. Have hard wired connections to the ethernet.. not wifi.. etc.
Fast forward to 2022 with utter frustration after a trip to Florida and everyone complaining about my remote audio I set forth with a mission to get remote working properly.
RemoteTX came on my radar and I said.. hey 30 day free trial.. I have the raspberry pi.. if it's as easy as they say I should be on the air in 30 minutes or less. I was! and what a difference this makes. No more max headroom stuttering. I have been able to use this remotely from my phone, tablet or laptop with no problems.
Settup was really easy!! I downloaded the custom image, wrote it to the sd card, added my key to that image.. went to the website.. logged in and I was in business. crazy simple setup for my IC-7300.
I had some questions about the usage and Marcus was right on top of responding. Nice! It's the nuts to be technical.. :-) 73 Brad N8YG |

| Excellent for Use with the Yaseau 991A |
Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |
Remote TX is an excellent way to provide a reliable Internet Remote access to your radios with your PC, Ipad or Android Phone.
The set up is very simple with the 991A, with a USB interface and Raspberry Device. I used the Raspberry 4 keyboard device purchased from Amazon. The total cost for the Raspberry Kit was $120 including the micro SD card, you can get less expensive Raspberry devices, but this was the only available device at the time. Remote TX also provides a 30 day trail to test your device
I am using the Remote TX feature to access my Rig while traveling, and aboard a boat. I have used this for HF and FM and the audio reports are good with the standard mobile phone microphone. The support from Remote TX is excellent, they respond quickly and will help with any questions you have during set up.
This is a great way to check into a NET, or just stay in touch away from your Rig. You can also turn the 991A on/off from the ap. I have used the remote feature remote with both wi-fi and 4G service, with no problems.
Thank You for the great support -Remote TX is an innovative way to stay in touch and use your smart phone PC or tablet.

| High Availability-Very-Reliable-No Surprises |

REMOTETX is an elegant way to experience reliable LAN or Internet Remote access to your radios. I have been using Internet Remote options for over 20yrs. I've used twisted-pair dial-up, SKYPE, VNC, SPLASHTOP, fwview, RCForb, etc. I prefer REMOTETX over all of them, esp. I foolishly paid for ICOM's offering whose DASHBOARD is WAY TOO BUSY. Kenwood had it right but they are apparently out of the game!
I use REMOTETX in the mobile. Using the iPhone as a hotspot for Internet access and a laptop for display of the DASHBOARD. With wireless headset from POLY it is a hands free operation. If one was hardcore mobiling (trucker) I would use a NETGEAR LTE modem HotSpot with external antennas to provide both an Ethernet or WiFi LAN connection in the mobile. Data Services from the carriers are less expensive than cell phone contracts and today the carriers have pretty good coverage across most populated areas.
I have a brand-new SCORPION mobile antenna in the garage that I will never install. I've said good-bye to spark plug and power line noise forever...;-)
Enjoy the simplicity of the REMOTETX Internet Remote Service. This service provides excellent audio... no expensive hardware purchases required (that can't be used mobile), No fumbling around with MUMBLE or SKYPE (with its constant intrusive advertisements).
