Hy power antenna company in PA makes exelent products with high quality materials, i being using this antenna for a year at 30 foot in the center and 20 on the legs and i get 59++ and performs really well. The balun is 4.1 and rated for 5kw and its build like a tank , the customer service is A++ I called Barry and he answer the phone and help me on my decision on this antenna for multiband and I got exelent results. I ordered from universal radio website and it got home fast I put it up from the bag with no adjustments with great results and no tuning swr low 1.2 swr , thank you Barry-ku3x for exelent antenna. watch youtube and search hypowerantenna company and you will witness what I am telling you! 73's and Happy Dx!

131' 160 meter antenna w/coils Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently decided that I wanted to try and get on 160 but my available space is quite limited. I heard about Hy Power and found that Dean had coils that could be used for a 131' shortened antenna for this band.
The coils were very reasonably priced and I talked with Dean before I ordered them. They arrived quickly and I made the antenna according to the included instructions. It works just fine and I was able to adjust the resonance point to 1,910 by trimming the outer wires.
Using my antenna tuner I can cover the whole band and I have already received good signal reports. I've also used the antenna at about 500 watts on SSB and it takes the power with no problem.
I would recommend going to the Hy Power website and looking at the impressive collection of antennas and coils available.

160-Meter LD16170 Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased the 170’ long, loaded 160-meter dipole (LD16170) and matched it with the BL10-160-5KW (Balun). This is a very nice and effective combination. The cost for the pair in 2017 was approximately $140. The materials are very robust. The color of the insulated wire is very dark. This dark color absorbs light and results in a very stealthy antenna wire when routed between trees. I installed this antenna in an inverted-V configuration with the apex limited to an elevation of approximately 50’. The antenna wire is routed north-south in a straight line with no tree branch or vegetation interference. The ends of the antenna are located at approximately 20’ above grade. The ends of the antenna are connected to the manufacturer’s supplied insulators. When cutting the length of the antenna to your preferred portion of the band, pay close attention to the manufacturer’s suggestion on how to wrap the antenna wire back on itself. Also, be sure to cut the same length from each side of the antenna. Manufacturer’s instructions will provide guidance. I connected Mastrant MP05100 rope to the end of each insulator and routed each end to a tree. Note that the tree/rope connection utilize a stainless steel (SS) pulley with bricks to provide a constant spring-type strain relief when the trees sway in the wind. This strain relief works extremely well to prevent the swaying trees from stretching the antenna wire. I’ve have no problems with the wire stretching and untuning from the desired resonant frequency.

The installed height of my antenna is significantly less than a half wave with respect to ground so, the pattern seems extremely omnidirectional. The antenna also exhibits Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS). I live in middle TN and can easily contact operators located in IL, MI, OH, KY, NY, PA, WVA, FL, GA, AL, MS & TX. I pay more attention to the 160-meter band during winter months when the signal to noise ratio is low. Sometimes I transmit less than 100W to make contacts and work up from there if necessary with an OM-2000+ Amplifier (supplied by Array Solutions). Personally, I cut the length of wire to resonate at 1.940 MHz. At this frequency, the VSWR displayed on a RigExpert AA-54 antenna analyzer is approximately 1.3:1. This reading was taken with the antenna located at approximately 50’ elevation at the bottom of approximately 50’ of Belden 9913F coax. Note that this coax is positioned perpendicular with respect to the antenna. My antenna tuner (HA8DU - DU3500AL auto-tuner from Array Solutions), located inside the shack, tunes the remaining portions of the 160-meter band.
This antenna arrived long in length since it’s cut for the lower portion of the band. This is great for those who operate CW. It’s easier to trim the wire than to add wire to a brand-new antenna. The manufacturer provides clear instructions on how to trim the antenna to the owner’s preferred portion of the band. Manufacture’s quote, “Our antennas are made to resonate at the bottom of the specified bands. This is done so the user can trim the antenna to the desired operating frequency. This is very easy, and instructions are provided to show you how to do it. Just like any antenna, maximum efficiency is found at resonance!”.

In conclusion, I am very satisfied with the results of this antenna. I spoke with the manufacturer a few times concerning my installation and they were polite and very professional. I recently purchased a full-size, 268’ 160-meter dipole (FSDP160), to replace the loaded 170’ dipole. It will be interesting to see how much more resonant bandwidth the full-size antenna provides.

44.5 Mhz is low SWR Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I put my RigExpert on this and the low SWR is at 44.5Mhz where it is mounted at about 11' above the ground. I'll have to take it down and trim it to get it to resonate at close to the correct frequency. I'm pretty disappointed they seemingly didn't even try to get this to be an antenna meant to be operated at 6M. Anyone else analyze their antenna?

Great quality, service, and price. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently installed a Hy Power 80M/40M fan dipole and couldn't be happier. The 40M section is installed as an Inverted V. Installation isn't idea. It's not high enough and the Inverted V isn't at a great angle. Nevertheless, the antenna is working great on both bands. Quality of construction is fantastic. Service is even better. Price was also very reasonable. I originally called Dean, the owner, for some guidance on which antenna would fit my needs. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond what I would have expected. I also received the antenna very quickly. I am extremely pleased with the entire experience and highly recommend Hy Power.

Built like a tank Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Simple, incredibly rugged.

I have one for 40 and a pair of phased dipoles for 80. Fairly stealthy also.

Excellent Quality Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Ordered two sets of the 160m loading coils. Top notch manufacturing quality. EZ install; twist & crimp. Added one set to an existing all-band, balance fed inverted vee dipole to enhance the performance on 160. Tunes beautifully! Other set went to local ham friend for same purpose.

Solid construction Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I installed a 160 m dipole several years ago and it has stood the test of time. Up over 60ft in snow & ice it just plays. Also I ordered a set of coils for 160 m to make my own shorty 160 in a different qth. These coils are wonderful and includes instruction where to place them in the antenna. Again this antenna just plays and plays.

To sum it up his webpage isn't fancy but his product is solid and shipping is fast. Install these products and forget them they are dependable

No Complaints Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Ordered this antennas about 6 months, replaced a Very Good G5RV
that worked very well, Found a way to get this 135' antenna up in the place of the G5RV putting a kick in the 85' end. This antenna is very close to a G5RV in being a quite antenna with a good signal to noise ratio. It get all bands that the antenna is rated for plus Broadcast and SW bands well, installed 40' at the apex 15' at the ends, another winner from HY Power Antenna company, Thank You Barry.....................kb6hrt

Hy Power Ant Company makes fine products that work well, Called Barry on friday and ordered the LD 1682 shortened 160m dipole, with little of a twist, wanted it set up for 450LL, no problem and no extra cost, sent him my check about an hour after I ordered the antenna, yesterday was digging out the ladder line from storage an found a LD1682 antenna that I had ordered from him in 2009, I converted this antenna to be feed with 450LL , called Barry back he is going to build me a 40-75m shortened dipole to use with ladder line for the same price. Installed the LD1682 this morning an when I checked it out the SWR on 160m at 1850 was 1 to 1 what can I say but, THANK YOU BARRY that is why I use HY POWER ANTENNAS! With LL on a LD1682S
a good antenna tuner this antenna works 10-160m comfirmed. . (BARRY KNOWS ANTENNAS THANK YOU,)..........kb6hrt

Absolutely butt-kicking antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This review is for OCF40 (5KW version).

Compared to another OCF Windom type antenna, the Hy Power antenna gives consistently better signals when switching between the two, and better SWR most of the time.

I erected the OCF40 as a flat top, strung between two towers with insulators every 5 feet on each end to make up the extra space between the towers.

The only issue I had was the antenna wire stretched a little during the first couple of weeks it was up, and then the stretching stopped. When it stretched, it did lower the resonant frequencies a bit on each band, but not so bad that it wasn't usable. One of these days, I do plan to drop the antenna and shorten it a little.

Barry gives EXCELLENT support. Very good email communications. He said that when you do shorten it, make sure to take about twice the length off the long side as you do the short side. Good to know.

Compared to longwires or monoband dipoles or G5RV antennas, the Hy Power OCF absolutely kicks their butt. Unbelievable improvement! Also, it works excellent for SWLing. Not so good for AM BCB DX.

As for power handling, I don't know (yet). It claims to be able to handle 5KW, so my full legal limit amp should be no problem. So far, I have only used 100 watts, and have never had to repeat my callsign when calling a station. They always hear me FB!
