Pricey but well worth the cost Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Recently purchased a SunSDR2 DX and while a great radio, it has issues with latency. No matter what I tried, the standard Yaesu microphones still had the dreaded latency problem.

While doing some research, I found that the Yaesu M-1 microphone had the ability to monitor the microphone BEFORE it goes into the radio to be tansmitted. Bingo.

Purchased at DX Engineering, it is a bit pricey....around $700. I was not really wanting to pay $700 for a microphone but after listening to a few folks that have them on the air, I was convinced that this was the answer to the latency issue.

First use put a huge smile on my face. After playing around with the equalizer on the mic, I was able to adjust it to adapt to my voice characteristics. Dual capsules, XLR ability if I want it and I am now getting great audio reports and NO LATENCY at all which makes me very very happy. Plugs right into the Yaesu mic pin system and when you use that, you will need to have the external wall wart running. No big deal.

Yes, $700 for a ham radio microphone is kind of crazy at first...till you start using it and then you realize that it was a very good investment in my ham radio hobby enjoyment.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Very nice microphone Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I use this microphone with my FTDX-101MP and works great. In addition to it's many features it also has the capability to record voice messages and playback over the air. Audio tailoring is great and I often get unsolicited comments on how good the audio sounds. If you use PTT you will appreciate the air activated PTT switch.

The best Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Acquired in DX Ingenering. It is expensive, but it is the best microphone for the radio amateur.
Perfect for my FT 9000D and TS-890S. 6 presets can change the sound as FM or for DX. 100% of my correspondents say that they have not heard such a sound before. It is definitely worth its price.

best hf microphone ever! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
this microphone has garnered a lot of good audio quality report consistently. the dual microphone (condenser and dynamic) is the perfect combination in capturing the best of both world. i love the easily adustable 9 band equalizer which is not hidden in a menu. it is right there on the desk mic. further, love the scope display on the mic which gives you an idea on your tx audio. the only thing about this mic is that it is not cheap. But if you have the funds for it i would advise getting this microphone. its the best compliment to your HF rig.
