Great quality cable Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
For many years I have been on the lookout for a CAT cable to connect my old JRC JST-245 transceiver to a computer so that I could use it for basic CAT control. All I really needed was something that could exchange real basic info, such as frequency and mode from the radio to my PC and to hook up with my logging program (Logger32).

I have previously bought cables from a couple of different manufacturers, but had no success. This might have been down to me, or it might have been down to driver issues, or maybe they were just bad cables, who knows, but the bottom line is that despite messing around with cables, settings and COM ports for hours on end, I could never figure out how to get them to work. I have used other cables to connect some of my other, more modern rigs to the PC, so I am not a complete novice, but the JRC always had me beat.

Then I came across a company here in the UK advertising a cable for my old rig on eBay, and offering a money back guarantee, so I thought I'd give it one last go. I ordered the cable which arrived within a couple of days. The package contained the cable, which appeared to be well constructed, and a small disk with the drivers. The instructions are simple enough...install the drivers before connecting the cable (is this maybe where I went wrong before?...I can't remember). I did so, followed the instructions in the 'read me' file and it all installed in seconds. I then started up my Logger, made a few changes to the radio settings from what was there before and I was up and running. Just as simple as that.

I am delighted to have been able to solve an issue which has bugged me for years, and happy to recommend Technofix UK cables.
