Great for emergencies! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I also bought one in 1999. We have had power outages a few times and this radio comes in handy. Good speaker, and great for local stations on AM. Shortwave is OK but not an FRG-7 either. It is great for prepers, solidly built with a strong crank spring. For the price, this thing will outlast any of those Chinese junk wind ups..

A must have, if you also believe that battery tech today sucks. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Got to thank the silent key Art Bell for pushing these BayGen wind-up radios back in the 1990's on his Coast To Coast AM Show, so I bought one in 1998. It continues to excel where today's Chinese battery technology continues to fail. Wind it up for 30min of room filling sounds. As a radio, nothing to write home about in performance. MW AM is mediocre, but good for local stations and strong night time DX. Shortwave AM is best for strongest stations. Could receive AM HAM's in 40M, 20M, and 17M. FM isn't too bad, but has a 1980's-like AFC station pulling. So, don't expect to RX weak FM station just adjacent to strong ones. Still, for what it is, it continues to serve our needs well when we loose power for hours, or days.
