Review Summary For : Hy Power Antenna Company DL40DX 40 meter Delta Loop
Reviews: 2MSRP: 63.95 + 14.00 shipping
Description:
A full-size Delta Loop, fed in the bottom corner, is a good low angle radiator and is great for working DX. This antenna normally has about a 3 DB gain over a 1/2 wave center fed dipole. The Delta Loop is not only a great transmitting antenna but a low noise receiving antenna. The direction of fire is broadside to the antenna. This means that if the base wire of the antenna goes from north to south, the direction of gain will be east and west.

Great for DX/local Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've now had the DL20DX and the DL40DX and they are both great all around usefull for local and DX chasing. Unlike his original coax feed I have been driving both with open wire 450 ohm and have removed the DL20DX after I bought the DL40. I now use only the DL40DX for all bands from 40-6 meters and couldn't be happier. Mine is vertical with the bottom at about 6' and fed at the lower left corner. I've worked Europe and turned around to work the west coast of the US from NY. The super low noise level is a huge plus.

Outstanding performer & value Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
After having problems getting a symmetrical elevated radial under my 40 meter ground plane in my small back yard I decided to try a self contained vertical on of which is a vertical polarized delta loop. Due to health issues my building skills are not what they used to be so I decided to look for a commercial made loop and found Hy Power Antenna Company DL40DX that is 31 ft tall and 56 ft wide at the base. The antenna is very well made both workmanship and material quality made from 12-gauge insulated wire. After mailing my order (no online orders) I was surprised by a call from Dean at Hy Power asking me a few questions about the request I made for the feed point, he wanted to make sure he got what I needed. That was a very nice customer service touch. My tower is 30 ft, I hung the apex of the loop to a tower arm and sloped it off at about a 60 degree angle to ground so it has a good vertical angle. On the air results have been very good. I like to chase DX and timing my DX chasing near grayline propagation times I have easily worked my fair share of DX using an antenna that the base is only 6 ft above ground running 100 watts. For the space and height requirements and the price tag those who like chasing 40 meter DX but don't have a Yagi at 120 ft this antenna will still let you have some fun working DX.
