So, this is a tough tower to review as you will see.

First, Rohn says this is a "kit", now what they mean to convey I don't know, but what you get is a tower in a million pieces. What's happened is Rohn moved the labor cost of tower assembly from them to you. Unlike a 25 or 55g tower, this one comes completely disassembled. I mean you put it all together from scratch and I got no instructions whatever.

Further, while the "kit" is relatively inexpensive, by the time you buy the BASE, the TOP of the tower, the rotor plate, the climbing bolts its very expensive for what it is.

Why climbing bolts? Well, unlike any other tower I have had, this has no horizontal braces, you cannot climb this tower without the climbing bolts, and they aren't the most comfortable thing either.

Rohn claims these towers can carry a serious load, certainly at the 30 ft level I needed for an EME setup, but boy, when you look at it ya really wonder.

The tower, was a major pain to assemble, I hired a local cell phone tower company, they were quite familiar with this tower and the first thing they said was "send it back"
I did not.

They had a terrible time getting it together because things just didn't quite line up. The biggest area of trouble was getting the rotor plate in place. They said something was wrong in how the plate was designed, but after using a hydraulic ram, they got it flat and in place.

The top plate is SUPER heavy, I'd guess 80 plus lbs, but I didn't weigh it. The top plate is drilled for a bearing.

The rotor plate is quite light in comparison and about what you'd expect. It is drilled for a rotor, not any rotor I had but for something. We had to re drill it for the Orion.

Once in place the tower company hung it from a crane and used gravity to make the thing straight and line up right.

Once finally bolted to the VERY expensive base ( assembly required there to, no instructions ) it looks "ok" as noted above I just don't know how its going to handle the wind long term. At 30 ft its rated at 80 square feet of antenna, I have 30 so here's hoping all is well.

What bothers me most about this tower is the ultimate cost after you buy all the mandatory stuff, its not cheap at all. Further, the assembly is a major hassle.

Please read the Rohn website and decide for yourself.
