Reliable Workhorse Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is my TRX which is in use 24/7/365. Remote controlled through a Raspberry Pi and a homebrew RS232 NMEA Interface, and a USB Soundcard.
The IC-M710 is supported by Hamlib, so FlDigi,WSJT-X JS8Call ,JTDX is no problem.
But it is also supported through BPQ32, and Ham Radio Integrator from N3ZH
GM4SLV wrote a nice Python NMEA 0183 controller, which works in Linux and windows
This transceiver is also in use by many yachters, with a SCS Pactor modem
I give it a five, because of its versatility, and build quality. It was 22 years in production with minor changes , together with its brother, the Icom-IC-M700Pro. It is sealed with rubber gaskets, to prevent it being corroded by salty air in harsh environments.
Can it break? of course everything can. But this machine has not let me down in 5 years of continuous use, every day
