Excellent Alternative Bluetooth Headset Time Owned: more than 12 months.
...To manufacturer's offerings? I'm thinking Icom here but no doubt there all at the same game?

After my QYT 8900r recently took a permanent nosedive when I had the common indecency to plug in an extension loudspeaker, I acquired an Icom IC-2730e which has Bluetooth capability as part of an expensive option. The Icom headset runs out at around $170 equivalent over here. I found this old Sony Bluetooth headset in the drawer, long abandoned once I had Bluetooth in the VW T5 Transporter. I charged it up but no go- the NiMh cells were dead after 15 years of no use. I purchased two replacement 1/2 AAA cells from everyone's favourite auction house and it worked again. Paired to the Icom, it transmits fine audio as judged by "Management" sitting downstairs with a dual band handheld as a monitor. It also presents good received audio through the earpiece, and this is the thing: amazingly it switches the radio from Rx to Tx and back again on each tap of the call handling button (so it's latching) This is ideal for mobile use, especially since the Sony has TX noise cancelling circuitry built in. You can buy these headsets on "that place" for peanuts. Or you can pay Icom (here in the UK) about £120 for their offering?
It comes as no surprise that I recommend getting one of these at least if you have the Icom IC-2730e with the Bluetooth board installed.
