Peak of microprocessor-controlled superhet single-band HTss Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
For all practical purposes, this is an FT-11R with a few different chips. It's a ridiculously good analog FM transceiver. The front board is the same, and the model is set by a jumper. The reason for this review is to just state that the MARS/CAP extended TX mod for the FT-11R also works on the FT-41R. The mod is available from several sources online, but they do not indicate that it works for the FT-41R.

Pleasant Radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Bought one on e-bay for very reasonable price. What I like is it's quite easy to program, has tons of features even without CTCSS module (does CTCSS on tx, natively, though). The display is great and it has the beautiful green night light of display AND keypad! Fantastic, it is so sad that nobody seems to do this anymore. Audio is loud and clear. It has plenty of keys to make operation straightforward, there are some errors in the manual.
What I like is that with the AA battery pack the unit lies very nice in your hands and is quite flat in profile so there is no bulge when you put it into your pocket. Looks and feels good. Scan is very slow by today's standards but if you only scan the standard repeater channels and the odd FM channels that's good enough.
Disadvantage is that it does only does a Watt with the AA pack and max out is 3 W I think.
The only problem with it is that there is nobody to talk to with it :(

For the price! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
What can I say, only just registered on the site and thought this great radio deservered another comment. I purchased mine new about 18 months ago at a cost of £99, yep £99 brand new with CTCSS fitted!

What can I say, reliable, clear crisp audio. As I only live about 3 miles from a repeater I need no external antennea and can happily work off the battery for several hours mainly due to the limited power output.

Thought about trading for new dual bander, but decided to keep as my backup set, cannot part with it.

good uhf ht Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is a great UHF HT. The display is the best of any HT that I have seen. It is easy to program with the computer cable. Everyone says my audio is great. The only complaint that I have is that the receive audio is too low. You have to turn the radio way up to hear anything.
