Review Summary For : Inrad Filter Switching Board for the FT-920
Reviews: 1MSRP: $80 without filters
Description:
The FT-920 is a great older radio. The main board has a space for an optional CW filter, but the stock SSB filter is soldered in and there is no provision for adding another. Enter Inrad. They provide a populated board that allows you to add 2 SSB filters of your choice. This board's wiring is used in place of the not-so-great stock SSB filter. A small toggle switch is installed under the radio to switch filters.

Excellent, as expected from Inrad! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Today, I installed a 250 Hz CW filter in the optional location.
While I had the radio apart, I installed this Inrad accessory board. It replaced the no-so-great SSB filter with BOTH 1.8 KHz and 2.1 KHz filters. Of course, the board is supplied without filters, so those were added.
The documentation is great! It is a very simple kit to install.

My only suggestion is to fire up the radio after the installation is complete and BEFORE you replace the covers. I had a small issue with the Kenwood ribbon cables. Not Inrad's problem.

The result is that the radio is now much easier to listen to with either one SSB filter or two in cascade as selected by the included switch.

Highly recommended!!!
