Pass on this one Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned my HG3 for over a year and it’s been one problem after another. Rob has responded to some of the issues but only after I paid the shipping one way and waited a couple of months for the repair. Rob is great, but it’s clear there is nobody else there as the turnaround time is extremely long. The latest problem, yet to be resolved by PreciseRF is that there is no fine tuning available in the controller. According to PreciseRF, they are still trying to find a solution to this problem. If you’re thinking of a loop antenna, better keep thinking.
eHam Note:
From PreciseRF: "The reviewer bought the unit secondhand from the previous owner. We have been working with him for some time to address his concerns. Despite not being the original owner and not covered under our product warranty, we have repaired the unit on two occasions at our expense. Regarding the reported problem with the fine-tuning mode, it is not entirely accurate as the stepper motors have a slight "play" that requires a few extra steps when changing direction. While we are aware of this issue and are actively working to improve it, no other customers have reported it as a problem. We take pride in providing excellent product support to all of our users and customers."

As advertised Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Got the Pro model. Works fine. My QTH is extremely noisy so I didn't expect great result. Made 59 contact with S.Cal station at least 1000 miles away with 15 watts on Elecraft KX3. More later. 73. KE7VXP

Excellent Remotely Tuned Mag Loop Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After using the new HG-3 Stepper Tuner and Mag Loop, Pro Controller, and AR-1 Rotator with the new aluminum mast for the past two months, I am very impressed with the new tuner and controller, especially the auto tune feature. I have operated my KX2 and KX3 with their antenna tuners bypassed on all bands from 40 through 10 meters and always was able to rapidly obtain a SWR below 1.5:1! Manual tuning also was easy. In addition, rotating the loop was rapid and easy. Like the previous reviewer, I leave my MLA assembled and take it outside when operating backyard portable. Finally, I always have received excellent customer service from Roger and his crew during the past few years not only my HG-3 MLA as well as my older HG-1 MLA tuned manually as well as with both the portable remote tuner and with the HG-1 remote tuner and AR1 rotator.

Great performance, value and customer service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have the HG-3 Pro with the AR-1 rotor. This Is a really nice antenna. The ability to steer the direction of the antenna, and QSY and retune remotely makes this the perfect stealth antenna for condo and portable use. The stepper motor controller easily grabs a match. When you QSY, it’s easy to regain a match as you follow your rig up or down the band with the microprocessor controller. The antenna easily handles 40 to 50 watts PEP at resonance. 20 to 25 watts on FT8 no problem. I leave the antenna assembled, and bring it In and out of the house when I want to use it. So for me the set up just takes minutes and I’m on the air. The antenna is made of quality materials. I had a small issue with the AR-1 rotor, but Roger took care of it with a replacement unit, and even paid the postage both ways. That is five star customer service! That says a lot when a company stands behind their products and Is committed to customer satisfaction. Yes, it is expensive, but as the saying goes… “You get what you pay for”. Considering the engineering behind the design and implementation of the product, the quality of materials, the workmanship, and the customer service, there definitely is value for your money.
