Review Summary For : UR6QW 10 Band Equalizer - Compressor - Limiter
Reviews: 8MSRP: $155
Description:
The EQ V.7 is a versatile sound processor. You can connect any microphone to it (even a Condenser one requiring 48V phantom power) and make your studio-quality signal. The device has two independent low-noise microphone amplifiers with two independent inputs for various types of microphones. The first amplifier has an unbalanced input, this is a 3.5mm jack on the front of the device, the inscription is "MIC". You can connect an Electret or Dynamic Microphone to it. The Bias + 3V power supply can be switched off via the menu (the procedure will be described below). The second amplifier has a balanced input, this is an XLR socket on the back of the device with the inscription "XLR Mic". It is intended for connecting high-quality studio microphones, Dynamic or Condenser (optional, for phantom condensers a + 48V Phantom power board is required).
Product is in production

A great replacement for my 8 band version. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After nearly two years, I sold off my 8 band version and bought the new V7 10 band version from UR6QW. I use it with my Sennheiser e835 dynamic mic feeding my ICOMM IC-7610, bypassing the transceiver's internal DSP settings entirely. I power the EQ unit with a USB cable plugged into one of the two the front panel USB jacks on the IC-7610. This way, the EQ unit turns on and off with the transceiver. Works fine! (Note: It does not seem to get the required +DC volts from either of the USB jacks on the back of the IC-7610, for some reason which I have never had time to check into). Setting up the EQ V7 box for Normal and DX speech processing is a matter of personal choice; just make sure you turn off any compression in your radio. Use the COMP provided in the EQ V7 box. To get you started, I can send you a list of my personal settings if interested, but I suggest you tweek them while over the air since neither monitoring your audio in your headphones plugged into the MON jack on the EQ V7 unit or listening on our transceiver gives you a true rendition of our "over the air" sound, depending on your voice and choic of mic. I have receive many glowing reports of my "NORM" and "DX" audio using this smart little box. I'm sure you will be pleases with your own results.

Best Processor Available Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This device is superb. It will shape your microphone audio feeding your transceiver in precise ways to get the best quality as you see fit. Need more high frequencies? More Lows (bass)? Compression? Downward expansion? Drive? Gating? For CBers, there's even reverb. For VHF/UHF you can select the end of transmission "beep."

Be sure to disable you radio's internal audio compression, internal audio high and low audio frequency processing, and let this unit do it all for you.

If you're an audio engineer, this device will be intuitive. You will know just what to do. If not, READ THE MANUAL. It's short. Follow the instructions. Experiment. Ask other Hams as you make contacts.

You will not be disappointed. Set it correctly and you will get compliments. I was so impressed that i am now using 2 units - one for my Icom 7300 and the other for my Icom 9700.

I am not affiliated with the the manufacturer or the sale of this product.

Good quality audio processing Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The compressor/gate function is on par with professional audio recording devices, a well controlled and very nice sound. The gate is not really a gate, but rather a low level expander, which is good for keeping ambient sound down.

The eq bands are well choosen for ssb and easy to use.

The reverb setting is not really a reverb, but a repeated echo effect. I don“t like it much, a proper short reverb would have been more useful.

The pass/normal button is very useful for shifting from a rag chew sound without processing, and a processed sound for dx contacts. There is also a dx-setting, but this does not sound nice to my ears.

Overall a very useful device for ssb audio processing, much better than anything provided in modern transceivers. And quite cheap, in comparison with a rack of professional audio processing units, that would not sound better for ssb use. I would recommend using it with a 48V large diaphragm condenser microphone, they are quite cheap now when youtubers use them. The better the sound that you put into the processor, the better it performs.

very bad support from the manufacturer !!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought it to use with my Icom 7300 and 7610 I must say that I use it since I bought it 2 months ago in my 7610 and it works very well I also tried it in the 7300 and its performance is the same.
Now I was preparing to participate in a contest and I decided to record the call memories of my ic-7610 using this new equalizer and I was presented with a BIG PROBLEM the continuous call repeater does not work in the 7610 makes a call and does not repeat the calls if the equalizer is connected ... it doesn't work on the 7610 but does it work normally on the 7300?
I demanded support from the manufacturer and he does not know how to solve it ... he answered me 3 times and I never heard from him again ...
IF YOU HAVE AN ICOM 7610 DO NOT BUY IT ... IT WILL NEVER WORK COMPLETELY IT WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY !!!

Have this gem hooked up to my Icom 7300. Works like a charm ! getting great unsolicited audio reports. The mic is a Heil proset IC for icom. This is for sure worth the 185 I spent on it !

EXCELLENT!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
What can I say, just a fine piece of ham gear that does what it supposed to. The extra 6db of adjustment makes all the difference in the world as to how well this one works. The eq works great as does the other functions of this little box. I like it very much. Well worth the $185 that I paid for it.

Quality DSP EQ at your finger tips Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A very easy to use DSP EQ that once set-up all settings are saved and no need to touch it again. I've never seen a more compact, full featured EQ that small enough to fit between my 7300 and 9700. This comes wired for the Icom 7300 from the factory and supplied with a 5V usb cord to be used with a power cube. The 10 band EQ starts at 90 hz and stops at 4500hz, more than enough range for any mic. I am getting great signal reports. Also verified my own signal on my favorite SDR receiver in Utah as crisp and clear. The screen is touch sensitive, well lit and in color. They give you a plastic probe to use on the screen but I use a bic pen. The menu is easy to use bouncing between screens is easy. There is one knob on the box...thats all you need. Unlike all of his other EQs that have a +/- boost/cut of only 6db, this one is +/- 12db so more tonal range. This works well with the 7300 and is quite a value at this price point.
