2 element yagi for 40 mt Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Hereby my review of the new Delta C-240 40mt Yagi from Innovantennas.
Mid July I bought this antenna at Innovantenneas, it wasn't even on their site yet, just emailed them asking if they had a 2 el yagi for 40 mt and they said yes.
Purchase price over 1000 pounds, so not a cheap antenna.
Comes in 2 sturdy boxes, nice thick aluminum tubes, all looked beautiful and hopeful.
Until I wanted to put them together, too few pieces of wrong pieces of screws that were short, parts list that was incorrect.
Not very well thought out either in a planned way.
But okay e-mail done and no problem the correct and deficient materials were sent for free, they were very helpful.
Antenna put together and mounted at a distance of 2 mt above my 4 elements yagi for 20 mt.
First measurements were very hard against my dip was 6600, so much too low compared to the intended 7100, and swr was also much too high.
So I mailed back and they sent a new plan with adjusted dimensions.
Adjusted everything but do not dip above 7000.
Back mail and got a new plan, but unfortunately still not good.
Despite different dimensions and hairpin adjustment.
Then they sent several coils to try instead of the hairpin, but still not good.
Then they decided to have the antenna built and tested at Wimo to find out what was wrong.
The spokes used were the wrong diameter and the large coils were not the correct values.
So again a new adjusted plan with shortened spokes, then the dip came to be in the right place after shortening the spokes a few times, but swr was not good yet.
Then they had a new longer hairpin made and sent it to us.
Then the swr on the dip was good, namely 1.09, on 7200 1.84 and on 7080 it was 2.
That is still not too bad you would say, but very narrowband and unfortunately under the 7080 no longer usable and not even tunable.
But according to Innovantennas, this is a great result. In their program, the results looked much better than actually mounted in the tower.
Now almost 14 days ago I see the introduction of their new C240-40 mt yagi on their Facebook with the message of being the best for such a small yagi with good swr and also with pictures of my antenna on it.
I then posted my opinion on their Facebook but after 1 hour it could no longer be read by third parties, they just blocked it.
They even stop responding to emails.
The only positive thing I can say is that they did their best to get the antenna right and that they sent everything for free.
On the other hand, I am very dissatisfied with the bad results and the much money I paid, then there would have been better options to buy that gave better results.
Now I feel a little bit abused that I was the victim of testing out their antenna.
Never again Innovnatennas for me.
