Works on a variety of computers Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I use MixW 2.08 on an eMachine 533 Celeron, 800 Mhz PIII, and 750 Mhz Sony Vaio notebook. The "usual" macros work as expected. I work mostly PSK, so I can't vouch for how things work in all those other modes. I use the software to control an ICOM 756PRO and Yaesu FT-817. Again, no problems. I've tried most of the other PSK software and find that MixW works well and has useful features. I have seen no evidence of instability in the software. Maybe I'm lucky...I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Unstable Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This review is based on MixW Version 2.08

For the most part this is a great piece of software and I must congratulate the developer. I can only relate my personal experience with it, which appears to be a bit different than most.

Pro: MixW is likely the most comprehensive software available for the digital modes. It incorporates a wealth of options and capabilities that is unsurpassed. It is the BEST...

However;

Con: The macros within version 2.08 are unstable on my computer. Sometimes they would work, other times they would just hang and not execute and on a few occasions would actually crash the program.
I have used just about ALL of the programs out there and have never experienced such a problem. In fact, all previous versions of MixW have not caused such a problem.

My advice, test out the macros before you buy.
Perhaps the problem is indigenous ONLY to my computer. If anyone else has experienced this problem please contact me. I did not receive much help from the distributor in the USA.

MixW Version 2.07 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This could be a great program if only the help files were available for each version. Without the help files we are shooting in the dark. I hear lots of promisses on them but still none are available only the original version 2. Come on guys we all paid for the program, now how about some help files?? Bill

Excellent Support Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I've been using MixW for several months now. I purchased it last Fall because it can handle several different digital modes. When using my Yaesu FT-817 I especially liked the fact that I could get my rig's frequency on the waterfall display and in the log with the CAT interface.

This January I purchased a Ten Tec Jupiter, which I prefer to run in Front Panel (non-Pegasus emulation) mode. MixW has a rig interface selection for this, which they call "Enchanced PC Control" mode. Unfortunately, there was a bug that caused it not to work. I got pretty upset, but calmed down and contacted the MixW developers. It wasn't long before I was trading emails with Denis and testing trial programs. Within a couple of weeks the bug was fixed. Now that is customer support!

This is an excellent program and is well worth its price.

Everything I need... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was looking for a program that does most (if not all) digital modes and evaluated a couple. I find that this one is the best of all of them. Once you know how to use the program, this thing cannot be beat. This is the only digital mode program that I use now.

It is well worth the $50.00US.

excellent learning program Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
i am new to digtal modes.

one the of main reasons i like to program is that it is very easy to try new modes with a contact that also has the program. you don't need to quit one program, start another one and find your contact again; you just swith modes within the program and resume the contact in the new mode -- easy!

i also like the dx cluster window that allows for automatic transeiver tuning and easy contact logging if you enable the cat control function.

i still have iz8bly's mfsk16 and hellschreiber programs, but mixw 2.07 b10 is the digital program i use 99% of the time.

Feeping Creaturism Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
MixW's getting what we used to call in the Macintosh world "feeping creaturism". Too complicated! A couple times I've somehow managed to mess up my macros and couldn't figure out how to TX and RX in time to come back to a CQ! And I still haven't figured out how to copy a 2nd signal and flip back and forth.

I still prefer Digipan for PSK31 - I think Digipan seems to decode PSK31 a little more accurately on my machine, and it takes up less screen real estate.

MixW is still king of all modes though - if you are looking for a single program that does CW, PSK31, MFSK, and are willing to pay for it, MixW is still the only game in town.

Well I have got use the MixW program and not real happy abt the way it is laid out. And Im not real happy abt the steep price of the program my gosh you can free programs that will do the same or more for free. IZ8BLY's programs are FB in my book like in MFSK16 you can change the amount of FEC that you need and MixW doesnt have MFSK8. or PSK63. psk125 or in the Hell program doesnt have PSK HELL 105,245 FM hell 105,245,Duplo,C/MT Hell,or Metoer Scatter Mode. or 1/8 speed Hell, and in MT63 you dont have the secondary window for infos and you dont have the CW featues on the CQ so no one will thing your a Jammer.
Well MixW is a OK program for alround use.
Its the Mini Van of Digimodes
But I preffer my Sport Car hi hi

Great, Full Featured Multi-Digital ModesProgram Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
MixW is not appreciated because of good salesmanship. Yes, there are plenty of great free programs out there. I use Hamscope, IZ8BLY's Hell program, etc. For a full featured Hell program, IZ8BLY has no comparison. I agree that MixW will not transmit AMTOR or PACTOR as it will only receive those modes, but no one is using AMTOR anymore and PACTOR is limited pretty much to retrieving e-mail. What I like about MixW is that the calls being received are identified by the program automatically. You click the call and it goes to the log, you click the RST report and it goes into the log, the program is fantastically automatic. Nothing beats this for a contest program. Many different sets of Macros can be created to your liking, mode, contest, etc. Links to CD-callbooks, links to DX clusters, SSTV built in too! There is still some work to be done, but what a great full featured program. There was a previous mention that you can only receive one station at a time. Very true, but I don't understand all the hype about programs that can receive, 2, 3 4, etc. stations at one time. Nice yes, but you can only really carry on one conversation at at time. The $50 bucks registration fee is worth the time the developers are putting into the program. For what I want and need, MixW is sharp and feature rich!

Ok, first off to work Amtor you need a tnc
Also ditto on Pactor (need Kam etc)but can "watch"
Hamscope you can work 2 stations at same time
W1SQLPSK you can monitor up to 20! (and choose one to work)
Works ONLY"basic" HELL- -try psk-hell-245 in poor condx with Iz8BLY's program and see what I mean
When is the last time you cared or worked HF Packet? It sucks and all these newer modes proves it.
Want to work cw? Hundreds of free programs, or use a key.
I am not totally convinced, although it has some interesting features.
All this "hype" about such a great program is good salesmenship just like ME or XP. AT least you get to try before you buy. That's in their favor.
