Description:
This is for rovers of all types – it's useful to hear announcements when you cross a gridline while driving. And it's really nice to always know the exact distance to the nearest grid lines. This is a dedicated GPS tracker for Maidenhead grid information for your vehicle dashboard. The dual altimeter may be useful to hikers. Inside it are an Arduino, GPS, barometer, realtime clock, Morse code generator, audio chain, and a bright readable display. It has an audible announcement as you cross into a new grid square, and for microwave ops it optionally announces each 6-digit grid line. It sure beats watching a GPS or tablet. It does a few other things too, like a big GMT clock and weather station for your desk at home. Available in either kit form or mostly-assembled kit.

A Bargain!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Have used the Griduino Tracker on two 6 meter grid trips so far. The display is very bright and easy to read even in bright sunshine. The built in track line is a plus, and accurate. The Griduino display shows not only the grid you are in, shows the grids around you and how far they are. Announces grid changes in CW, Morse Code, this I especially like. Displays Lat/Lon, and constantly updates as you move. Griduino can show elevation as well.

Setup/installation is a breeze. In my case had a mount already in hand from my junk box, made dash mounting in my truck go easy. Jacks are provided for 12v dc and
audio for speaker output for Morse Code announcement. I could go on, but you get the idea. For the amount Griduino sells for, its a Bargain!

A great product Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have been very happy with my Griduino. It works well for me and helps me keep track of which grid I am actually in (or approaching) while roving.

Well done !

More than just a grid square locator Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The Griduino device is a fascinating bit of kit designed for rover and portable operations. It's primary function is track location in real-time within a grid square, display distance to adjoining grids, and announce crossing grid lines. The additional screens really add versatility to the device.
For example; I use the 'grid' view while traveling rover style. When entering a forest back road however, I switch to the altimeter screen to synchronize the barometric elevation reading with GPS elevation. This gives me elevation backup when GPS reception is blocked by trees, etc. Once I'm setup at camp I switch to the UTC/Local time display and use Griduino as my station clock.
Building the kit was straight forward and took a few hours to assemble. Loading the firmware is a breeze thanks to use of a single binary image however you may compile and load the code through the Arduino IDE. In fact, the developers have made the code open source so we can tweak and experiment to our hearts content.
In summary, the device in intriguing and useful and captures the spirit of gear created by and for HAM radio operators.
