Great Discone For Amateur Radio and Scanners Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Well built antenna that has been through many windstorms and always comes out like a champ. No issues whatsoever and great SWR on 2 meter, 1.25 meter, and 70 centimeter. I use two for my shack, one for my scanner and one for my multi-band amateur radio. Both have preformed flawlessly for years. I highly recommend this antenna.

excellent for 1.25M too! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Replaced an AOR DS 3000A w/this antenna due to too-high an SWR for 220MHz (1.8+). This Sirio discone is a great solution for 2M, 1.25M, and 70cm repeaters. Totally flat SWR for 2M, and 1.3 for my local 1.25M repeater. Very happy with the result. Also used for scanning local air ops and for AM/FM BCB listening.

The construction is good and on a par with AOR's antenna: chromed brass and stainless. A mast mount, coax downtube and all parts, along with a hex wrench, are included (as with AOR antennas), and unlike with other less expensive antennas.

Assembly of the 'cone' elements requires you to first insert included plastic plugs into one open end of each element and then to insert and then secure the element with a stainless set screw. Rubber tips are also provided so LIDS don't poke their eyes out. The stainless tubes save overall weight, so this slightly larger discone weighs the same as AOR's mini discone.

Although not as compact or stealthy as the AOR discone, this antenna is small enough to fit well in small-space applications. I have mine mounted at a corner of a bed by the house, with the antenna clearing a flat roof line and mounted on an old World Radio SD20 crappie pole antenna mast. Works FB for my needs. I only pump 50W VHF and 40W UHF through the 25ft of coax fed hidden along the house foundation. Keeps the cabling and antenna out of the way. During inclement WX or hurricanes, a couple simple twists of the mast drops the antenna to ground level.

Solid construction, good performance, great engineering, and no complaints make this antenna a solution for me.
