These are quite a find! These are the first post war radio built by Eddystone and are sort after. Everything inside is built in heroic proportions and this makes for drift free reception. Sensitivity is adjustable and very good, the pass band is good and the crystal filter is sharp and narrow for CW. On the whole a very nice set to adorne any shack. Due to its age, most of the passive components ( resistors and capacitors) will have had it and will need replacing. This is easy to do if not time consuming. There is an active enthusiasts club and parts and advise is available. ( The old resistors can be hollowed out and new ones inserted into the old resistors for an authethenic look. The old resistors are huge!). Re aligning is apparently quite hard to do and I did not try it! Should last for ever!
Conclusion, these were used by the military and later came onto the surplus market. So any set you acquire will have been heavily used. When fixed up, its a nice set, looks very classic and vintage and works a treat. Downside is that it is a heavy brute!
