Unreliable, poor construction Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This antenna was purchased for use on a lightweight rotator and mounting pole attached to my house. The light nature and accurately manufactured claim, made the antenna an obvious choice for my purposes.

The director and reflector elements are 6mm solid rod pushed through plastic “grommets” in the boom. The instructions were later altered to add a suggestion that hot melt glue, or similar fixative, is used to stop the elements sliding out of alignment due to vibrating in the wind… unfortunately the instructions with mine didn’t include that and I had to take the antenna down to sort the problem.

The latest issue is the failure of the ferrite sleeve balun, an unlikely item to fail, but on mentioning that it failed short circuit, two other users have reported similar problems with these. Yet another awkward job to take the antenna down. The balun was supplied with the antenna.

Make your own balun and glue the elements in place, then the antenna performs well.
