Review Summary For : Hamgear3D IC-705 Carry Frame and Tilt Stand Kit
Reviews: 3MSRP: $70
Description:
This is a 3D-printed protective frame for the IC-705 designed to: - Protect the front panel and controls - Provide a convenient way to carry the rig - Tilt the face of the rig up at a good viewing angle Personalize your kit with your call sign on the screen cover - see the drop down under color selection. You can also request a different color for the screen cover if you like - just add a note when you place the order. These frames are printed to order, and are available in a variety of colors. I use premium quality PLA2 for excellent rigidity and strength. The frame is shipped as an easy-to-assemble kit which requires only hand tools to put together.

3.5 is about right Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
At $70+ dollars, it is OK. I had to sand several parts to remove strands & sharp edges/corners. It went together with a bit of difficulty as the instructions could be better. A simple Youtube video would have been very helpful. I find the 2 front facing handles make using controls more difficult, but that maybe the cost of providing protection without making it a lot larger. I mainly bought this for the top carry handle & I do like the flip down screen/display protector. For $50 I would have given it 5 stars.

Wrong model shipped and no response Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I ordered the style with the attached front cover with my call engraved. It came with the detachable front cover. A serious disappointment for me because the attached cover flips up but stays attached so it also acts as a sun shield. Which is what I wanted. Repeated tries to contact the company for a resolution over a period of a few weeks went unanswered. So I gave up and accepted that I didn't get what I wanted and what I ordered. However in fairness the product is well made and the price is reasonable for what it is. I have it on my 705 and it does offer protection when the rig is in the Pelican travel case. But a company that shipped the wrong model and is unresponsive is not so good.

Great & inexpensive rig protector! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Dayton Hamvention 2022 was expensive. I bought an IC705. Took me two weeks to figure out how use it -- which is the subject of a subsequent review -- but it only took me a few minutes to get this little 3D printed protective frame attached to the radio. Even found a way -- with the help of the designer/vendor -- to get the Begali Adventure Mono & bracket attached.

The material used -- including the brass and stainless hardware provided -- is very solid. There is sufficient material around the handles, frame and lock-down pieces to hold the IC705 in a reasonably solid and safe set up. And if you are unfortunate enough to not have a Begali Adventure to attach, well, the frame has a tilted foot & back plate set up that gives you a pretty decent & clear view of the screen.

Note also that there is a fold down screen protector upon which you can have your callsign custom incised in the process of getting the 3D frame printed up. It's part of the ordering process.

In all this is an excellent product. It's well made and it arrived pretty quickly. And it's a lot less expensive than the two other alternative protective brackets available for the IC705.

Definitely five stars.
