Works as advertised until it broke Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Update: After two years of reliable service my MFJ-1984 stopped working and it took 5 months for MFJ service in Tennessee to repair ATU ($91/shipped back)....

Due to HOA restraints I went with the MFJ-1984MP 40-10 1/2 dipole and I'm not disappointed...it works!!

My installation is not optimum, my MFJ-1984MP zigzags around the yard at about 25' above ground. Construction wise, I did open the balun box up and everything looked FB

40m 1.4:1
30m needs tuner
20m 1.2:1
17m needs tuner
15m really needs tuner (surprised)
12M tuner
10m needs tuner also.
All SWR measurements were taken at the low end of each band

Running mostly FT8/FT4 I'm working into Europe most every night and South America as well.

Daytime operating CW/SSB I'm a SOTA/POTA chaser and a higher gain antenna would help here.

I'm a huge fan of the dipole. Licensed in 1965 I've had verticals, wire antennas and of course Yagi's. The lowly dipole has never disappointed me and the MFJ-1984MP is no exception.

Not well made - cold solder joints limited pwr (50W) on 40M FT8 Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Installed with some issues. Most of the screws were loose. found that the position of the LMR400 was critical to getting a reading on the NanoVNA, quite disconserting.
Using Nano-VNA I found that the SWR looked a bit odd, all at low end of the frequency bands.
After a rain storm the unit stopped functioning so I looked at the Balun box and found that it had 3 cold solder joints some were in positions that were hard to reflow.
After reflow of solder working OK for now, though my rig died shortly after I fixed the solder joints (unrelated issue) so limited time with the repairs.
I did find that I needed to reduce power (100W to 50W) on 40M in FT8 or the SWR would suddenly jump up and my rig would reduce power output, needed to wait some time before it would work correctly. Did not confirm if the Toroid over heated or not.

Does what it says on the bag. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Had this antenna for a year and a half. It's run next to the eaves on the north, west, and south sides of my house. Definitely favors the east. Not great, but I'm making contacts.

Tried replacing it with a Chameleon EMCOMM-II. In the same setup, the Chameleon was significantly more deaf. Put the MFJ back up, and I'm working stations again.
