Good kit to build Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought the 40M version and found it an excellent kit to build. Good instruction and a good layout, and it worked with no issues. I'm new to CW, so I find the decoder to be decent. It helped me to make my first CW QSO. Overall, I'm impressed with the build quality and performance. Highly recommended. You can't beat the price.

remarkable Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had an MFJ ssb/cw xcvr and sold it a while ago. I found a great ham who had built one if these and sold it to me. It was sitting around until I was able to get it out to my place on Long Island Sound. I hooked it up to a hamstick dipole and gave it a try this past weekend on Field Day. Once I figured out how to set the menu items the way I wanted I started to really be amazed at what this could do. It was powered by a 12v gel cell. I've owned the Icom 703, the Elecraft K1, MFJ, Heathkit Hw 7 and 8, Oak Hills and some others. what I love is the display and how easy it is to change keying speeds and changing the tuning rate. I'm a pretty decent cw guy and didn't want the decoder showing on the screen. Once I got that off I really started enjoying this little radio,
