I purchased this used on ebay. Huge risk but the price was right. I was prepared for the worst having seen the bad press this radio has generated in its previous incarnations - the Aliunce HS2 and Radioddity QR20. Mine is a "Third Generation" unit and is equipped with the DMR module, Compass, and GPS modules. First off - the radio is small. The buttons are all usable though and once you understand the logic (or lack of logic) of how the controls work it is easy to navigate. My radio works up to spec with the exception of 12 watts out on 160. The receiver, once you understand the relationships between the IF Gain, RF Gain, and extensive filtering controls, is excellent. I operated the ARRL DX CW Contest for a couple of hours with it and was very impressed with the receiver. I used N1MM to log and also tune the radio with the up/down arrows rather than the press buttons on the keypad.

The main thing to understand with this radio is that it is an experimenter's radio. It does a whole lot (see the youtube videos) without a lot of support from the manual. The manual is usable, but you have to think between the lines of what is printed there and figure things out for yourself. There is a Whatsapp channel where the engineers and user hang out, and the factory is reasonably responsive to answering questions. Try reaching a factory engineer from Icom, Kenwood, or Yaesu! There is also a Groups.io support group as well as Facebook groups.

I was happy with mine to a point. The radio is basically unstable and quirky, and Guohetec seems to have gone silent as far as supporting this radio. It is ultimately very buggy and power outputs vary considerably. Recent firmware updates have made the situation even worse.
