Perfect Fit and Function! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am in no way, shape, or form associated with Bommeow. I purchased my Bommeow BICL0307-3350-D Battery from Amazon with my own cash without any incentives.
I have been an ham since 1966, hold an Extra Class license (20wpm), and enjoy QRP. I've owned a Yaesu Ft-817, still own an Icom IC-703, and purchased the IC-705 when it first came out. As you may know, the 705 comes standard with the pitiful BP-272 battery and the BP-307 optional. Unfortunately, like most Icom accessories, the BP-307 is horrifically overpriced, and right now (Nov 2022) the lowest price I can find is $135, whereas the Bommeow battery is $55. I've had the Bommeow in use since mid-Oct 2022, and all I can say is that works perfectly! It exactly matches my Icom BP-272 in height and width, but is thicker due to its higher Watt-Hour capacity. The latches function perfectly, and when comparing the two batteries I believe that the Bommeow is the better built of the two. It snaps into the back of the IC-705 perfectly, and in addition, other than the manufacturers stickers, the Bommeow has the exact same information embossed on its plastic case (+,S,B, and =,S,-). It's mechanically perfect.
The technical aspects: I have compared the Icom BP-272 and Bommeow in EVERY mode possible in the IC-705 and they "act" identical, other than when you power up the 705, the only difference is that you select "BP-307" (the high priced Icom battery) versus BP-272. The 705 recognizes the Bommeow, charges it (with the front panel charging light illuminated), and when done charging the light goes out. And in case you didn't know, if you have a battery attached to the back of the 705 and also have an external DC power supply plugged into it, when you select the "quick" button on the 705 and then press voltage on the screen it will indicate that the 705 is actually still charging the battery but the front panel charge light will not be illuminated (with either the Icom or Bommeow battery installed). So, as far as I can tell, the Bommeow functions mechanically and electrically perfectly in the Icom IC-705. Of course my rating is based on a little over a months use, but if I have any problems with the Bommeow in the future I will update this review. I will also add that I haven't had any issue with the desktop charger either.
And yes, the belt clip fits perfect and is removable. 73's -- K4SSS
