A small, lightweight and proven portable HF antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am very happy with this antenna and has been proven to be a strong performer. I have made over 100 contacts from the park (POTA) with it used in a fixed mobile scenario with a Comet RS520 bracket, with my Icom QRP radio in its back pack and as a tripod mounted (with radials) antenna. In every case I was able to make contacts with stations in the USA at QRP levels. The kit is in a case that is the size of a paperback novel making it easy to bring in my carryon bag on the plane or stuff in a backpack pocket. The antenna does not come with radials but I use the ones in the MC-750 antenna kit. I have a shelf in the basement full of antennas and this one is in my Icom backpack ready to be used on every outing as the primary antenna, a loaner with guests operating POTA or as a secondary antenna for a second radio. The whip can also be used on 6m to 70cm so it covers more bands than explained in the manual. Add the band coil, extend the whip fully and add your radials and go make QSO. I showed this to another ham who is considering this for a HOA townhouse and can use it on the patio with a tripod or affixed to his metal patio table. I don't think the HOA nosy parkers can spot it. I can now sell my 5 single band whips at the Hamfest as I have everything I need in a small box all complete.
