|The online retailer Temu gave me a 85% off coupon so I bought one of these direct from China for $5. It does not have FCC Certification or a Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC), so it is illegal for Temu to import it into the US or for me to use it. |
However, there are at least three different radios calling themselves "UV-10R" in addition to my undocumented model. Some of the models on Amazon say they are FCC approved, so if you can get one with an FCC number, it's not a bad radio. It is very light owing to its roughtly 1500-2000 mAH lithium batttery, has good audio quality, and is solidly constructed. Not very weatherproof looking. The Amazon models appear to come with a programming cable, mine did not. Mine is tunable on RX from 136-174 and 400-512 MHz, and like almost all Baofengs will transmit throughout its extire RX range.
So, buyer beware. Don't buy on Temu, get one on Amazon so you run a good change of getting one that's legal in the US.
