Junior for the win! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had some changes to my backyard and had to switch to a smaller antenna. This smaller size G5RV Jr. is a rock star. It's only 51 feet across the top and the feed line is only about 16 feet long. Easy to put up in a small area and the construction and materials are first rate. The center insulator and the SO239 at the end of the twin lead is potted. The wires are crimped with crimp sleeves and the other hardware is good quality. ARS lists this antenna as the ARS-11001 and so far it's been working fantastic. I use an MFJ-939 tuner and with that it also tunes up 80 meters. I'm not planning to transmit there but it allows me to birddog that band if I need to.

Over all, an excellent antenna, especially considering the very reasonable price.

Extremely Sturdy - Should last for years. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this antenna set up in an inverted vee configuration for about 18 months now. The thing that you notice immediately upon receipt is how sturdily built everything is. I have had two G5RV's from another manufacturer and they deteriorated over a few years due to the poor quality of the components used. I believe this antenna will last for years in my alternately hot/cold and windy environment on the front range of Colorado.

As for its performance, it works just like the other two G5RV antennas I have had, i.e., it provides a match for any reasonable antenna tuner and performs reasonably well given the compromises made for such an antenna. In other words, it's a very versatile wire antenna that is capable of many QSOs. Don't expect it to work like a yagi at 40 feet, but do expect it to radiate a decent signal and receive reasonably well (noise levels notwithstanding).

On the whole, if you're looking for a G5RV antenna, and you understand its benefits and burdens, THIS is the one you want to buy because of the excellent quality of its construction and components.
