Great Scanner Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is a great scanner. Although I am a scanner expert it took me over a year to find the right trunked frequencies, I asked radioshack and they didn't have the correct ones and neither did the book that came with it, I was very pleased when I came across the correct frequencies, If you have the right frequencies and talk groups it is very easy to program, IF YOU NEED FREQUENCIES FOR YOUR AREA OR NEED HELP PRORAMING YOU SCANNER E-MAIL ME - FDNY234@AOL.COM

This is my first scanner took a while but i learned how to program it. Programed a lot of channels but still have tons to go because of the 1000-channels!!! Live in a small city(town really)the name of it is BERKLEY,MICHIGAN (no im right not CA) and i can get lower OHIO stations some days i can get WISCONSIN too and i live in the thumb area (about 20 miles north of Deroit)

Good Scanner! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
When I got this scanner, I was very skeptical of it's performance, it being my first scanner and all. However, I shouldn't have been. Its size and performance was all i needed in a VHF/UHF scanner. The stock antenna does a good job and exceeded my expectations. The only reason I gave it a 4 was because it's hard for me to program the thing. It is very confusing to a newbee like me. But i still LOVE to scan through the bands manually and i don't really need to program in little frequencies anyway. I think it is a great deal and if it is on sale, go for it.

Great Scanner Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased this scanner a few days ago and am very pleased with it. The reception is great, probably because I live up on a hill above the city. I programmed in as many conventional frequencies as I could find and started scanning. I am, however, having a hard time programming the trunked frequencies. I can hear people talking on them but I do not hear the replys. I will have to consult some friends for help. Otherwise, it is an overall good scanner and I recommend buying it. Try to find it for less than $200 if possible.

Not bad at all, Trunk Tracking works great. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had a Pro-94 for a few days, and was pretty pleased with it. Programming it was a pain, but other than that it was a pretty typical built by Uniden Radio Shack handheld.

The 1000 channels is nice, you can load several cities worth of stuff if you travel, but the 50 memory channels per bank is too many, 25 would have been more flexible.

I had no intermod problems, and it had good sensitivity. The audio was ok, not great, and there was a hiss in the background you could hear all the time, and it was kind of annoying.

I ended up buying a Pro 93, Mostly because I wanted the alpha tags. Side by side, there wasn't much difference, reception wise.

Good scanner! Not easy to program. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The scanner picks up great even though I live way outside the city. It works great on trunking systems, although I've had it 2 days and have still not figured out how to program everything correctly.

Things I dont' like:

-HARD to figure out Trunk Tracker programming -- the manual is small for a reason, you will need to have it with you for a while!

-Audio through the stock speaker is a little "hissy", but is clear to understand and works fine with headphones.

-Doesn't have alpha labeling for freqs or trunk ID's. However I think the only scanner on the market that does is the RS Pro-93, and hey, the Pro-94 was on sale and I've heard of some software glitches in the Pro-93's so I'd wait about 6 months for them to get that firmware cleared up.

Things I LIKE about it:

1000 channel memory!! Trunking capabilities (my county uses Motorola Type II trunking for like 20 different agencies!), looks "professional", light weight and very portable (duh!), easy to program conventional scanning frequencies, clear reception of everything I've tried to listen to far including HAM repeaters in the VHF/UHF range, and oh, IT'S ON SALE for $199 right now.

NOTE: At the store, buy batteries, power it up. Then hold down 4-2-9 (that's the 4 button, the 2-button and the 9-button AT THE SAME TIME) while turning the POWER ON..... this will display a version number. Look for 1.12! You don't want 1.11 or earlier. If it's an earlier one, see if they have others in stock and find one that's 1.12.

HELP !!!!!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a PRO-94 scanner and I'm looking to buy a leather case for it. Radio Shack, for some godforsaken reason, has discontinued this leather case for this scanner, and I can't find one anywhere. I've checked literally hundreds of websites, but no luck...It's driving me nuts...Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

Today's date is 3/14/02. If you can help, or point me in the right direction over the next few weeks, I would be very grateful. Please email me at steve@madcrazy.com. Thanks!!!

Pretty Impressed But Clueless Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have never owned a scanner and I really have no idea what this unit is capable of doing. I got it from a friend for $50 so how could I go wrong there? It seems pretty cool though, I programmed in a few police channels and have listened to the weather. I have no idea what this trucking feature is or does. I do agree with most of the people who say the built in speaker is lacking a bit. But overall I am really happy with the unit and look forward in learning how to use it.

I like it! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought the Pro-94 one week ago. In my area there aren't many trunked systems I am interested in. I have programed in nearly 300 frequencies and am impressed with the large number of channels available. It receives good with the rubber duck, which is the only antenna I have used on it. Compared to my base scanner which is a Pro-2044 with a homebrew 2 meter J-Pole antenna, it is almost as good on the area around 140. Mhz, and the Pro-94's duck is a lot better on the 450. Mhz. Area.
I agree that the speaker is noisy if used over 3/4 volume, but is excellent with a cheap pair of headphones.
With it on sale this month I think it was a great buy.
