Good Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just bought my PRO-94 yesterday (10/04/01) and so this is first impressions:

After getting it home, I proceeded with the Standard Male Test (Opening the box and throwing the manuel as far across the room as possible and trying to learn the radio on your own. :) I was very quickly able to figure out how to program conventional frequencies, but having never tried trunking, I was at a loss. After half an hour of looking like a monkey doing a math problem, I finally found the manuel behind the TV. After reading the manuel a few times and programming a couple of trunked systems, it seems a little easier, but you definetly have to read the manuel a few times to get a good understanding of the radio. Other wise programming the radio is very easy.

The Audio of this radio is not the best in the world, but if you plug in an external speaker or headphones, it sounds much better. If you use the built in speaker, you have to contend with alot of noise. I was disappointed in the audio. My PRO-71 Sounded better. Oh well. I love having 1000 channels and the ability to trunk, so I'll keep it. Over all though I thought that the radio is a very good radio. I think my next radio though will be a moble, like the PRO-2067.

scans/trunktracks great! audio leaves alot to be desired. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just bought a Pro94A on sale. I programmed in a mix in the first two banks of conventional, Mot type-II, and EDACS frequencies. The radio scanned all without a hitch. Auto-lite is a nice feature, and 1000 channels is more than enough. But the AUDIO is terrible. Lots of hiss, too trebley, no background quieting. Will probably return it.

Good Product - Manual needs to be revised Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I love my new Pro-94. Being able to scan trunked systems and other non-trunked freqs at the same time is wonderful. Audio and reception is good.

I have two other friends that have purchased the Pro-94 this month. We have all ran into the same problem with programming the fleet map. Our area uses a Motorola Hybird system which requires a user defined fleet map to follow the system correctly. We all followed the manual (page 55) carfully, but could not get the scanner to accept the map or track until we discovered a missing step in the manual. If you are trying to program a user defined fleet map into you Pro-94 and are having troubles, try this suggestion:

You have to program all trunked freqs for your system. Then program the fleet map, PRESS SCAN, THEN SCR after you finish programming the map.

otherwords On page 55, between step 8 and 9 you need to add the additional step of pressing scan, the proceed to step 9. Hope this helps someone.

good but...... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
finding out how to work with the trunking mode is quite difficult. Or at least it is for me... Otherwise everything thing else works well... If anyone can help me work with this trunking give me an email address to help me out.

Great scanner, OK price/manual. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought this scanner at sale price $220.00 and I am very happy with it. 1000 channels is more than enough for any "listener" and the scan speed is very fast (50 channels per second or 300/sec. with "Hyperscan").
It is necessary to read the manual a few dozen times to gain a sufficient understanding of the radio. The construction is of moderate quality (ABS Plastic) but it can take a licking and keep on ticking. Receiver performs very well, and the audio output is excellent.
