Great Portable antenna Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I've been using this antenna for POTA and SOTA. It works great when you need a small foot print. My go-to is an EFHW, but this antenna does really well. There has been a few drawbacks, it's that the SO-239 connector on the antenna didn't connect well with my DX Engineering coax. I could not get it secure with any of my DX Engineering coax. I have a feeling it's the SO-239 connector on the antenna, and not the coax as I've never had an issue with this coax in any other application. Also, when posting about it online, I had 3 other operators message me asking if I had an issue with the coax mating with SO-239. The cheap Amazon coax I had worked fine. I use a Balun/Choke with the with this setup so I am able to use quality coax with the choke. Another draw back is the threads for whip and poles are not 3/8 24 so it won't work trying to combine any whips or coils you may have. One great design which works better than any other is their adjustable coil design. The coil is extremely easy to adjust. I wish others, like BuddiStick had a similar design. I've made thousands of QSOs and a lot of DX into Europe and other countries using this antenna from California. It gets out great. The provided radials work well. It's better if you make your own as I was unable to get below 2:1 SWR on some bands. The manual only provides instructions for Tuning 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, but I've been able to get it to tune from 40 through 6 meters and have made QSOs on all. This comes in a nice bag that fits in my hiking pack with my radio and battery. Overall, I would recommend this antenna despite the few negative items I've listed. 73
