A rare transceiver today, but a good one? Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had purchased this radio new at the beginning of the 1980s (for abt. 40 years now) to take my first steps in the two meters SSB range. It was quite cheap here and I didn't had the money for a proper base station at this time. The dealer was a typical out of the box seller who quickly went out of business. Well, the transceiver did not disappoint me, but it is generally more suitable for mobile operation. However, after some time, the mechanical „click detent“ (is this the correct writing in english?) of the VFO drive mechanism failed, not repairable. I sold it after about two years to buy a used Yaesu FT-221 (a real classic!), which is still in daily use in my shack.

I have heard that after all these years, the solder joints on the boards cause problems (as with e.g. the ICOM IC-211), as SM6XUN also mentioned below. I can't confirm this myself, as I only had this TRX for a short time. But probably this problem is only hypothetical, because the radio hardly ever appears on the used market.

works ok after some work Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this radio used, it took me approx. one month to make it usable again, some hard-to-find parts, and a lot of adjustments to be done.
i made some measurements in my workshop today, the results are very good indeed, rock solid frequency, spectral purity and an nice modulation.
Don´t expect to to work forever though, you have to be prepared with your soldering gear, the radio is clottered with bad soldering and doesn´t appear to be 100% adjusted from factory, especially the two plastic trimcapacitors by the driver transistor (2sc1971) tend to deteriorate, i had to exchange them.
-Now, when repaired to almost new condition, I like the radio, but at 10W power you won´t work the world, indeed very suitable for local ragchewing though, after all, repairing your own equipment is half the pleasure.
