Better than awesome! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I live down a bowl and mounted this antenna to a 10 foot mast and have it mounted on my chimney at least 40 feet off the ground. I already made some clean and clear QSO's with this antenna! You can't build your own J-pole for $39.99! This antenna is very well made and is of very high quality construction and design. Very clean and simplistic. The neighbors have not even paid attention to this antenna, which is good for keeping the peace!

Excellent construction and performance Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Purchased this pre-assembled at Sea*Pac in June of 2005. Used it my attic for about 7 months, then put it on the roof. Very well made. Base is easily re-drilled if you need to mount on a larger diameter mounting with a larger bracket. No complaints from the neighbors about CC&Rs.

A fine antenna. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I echo the comments of previous reviews. I am a well satisfied customer. I was most impressed with the high quality construction - much better than the big commercial companies. All components were nicely machined and finished. One could see that care was given in the manufacturing and the product was well packed in a heavy cardboard tube and box for shipment. Performance of the antenna is excellent.

Solid..! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Almost overbuilt with solid aluminum. Assembles in about three minutes. At about 50 feet in extremely flat Louisiana, I'm getting great reports and talking much further than I expected. If your go-kit can accommodate the long primary element, this would make a great addition. I hope to purchase several for the Red Cross's shelter ham support kits. The mounting clamp is also quite sturdy. This antenna can be safely mounted and forgot about.

Awsome! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This is a great antenna, able to hear about 100+/- miles commonly at 20' and on a hill. Solid as a rock, very affordable, and easy to assemble.

Solid and Attractive Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This antenna is incredibly solid with high quality construction. The fact that it goes together quite easily and doesn't need to be tuned makes it plug and play.

What I've been looking for! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've used a Cushcraft AR2 Ringo since 1992. Nice little antenna, but critical to tune.

Enter the Arrow J 146/440! First thing I noticed was the outstanding quality of the product. Set up time was 5 minutes with only one glance at the
instructions (okay, real hams don't even do that!)

Pros: Outperforms the AR2 (I am 100 miles from a major city, and only occasionally could bring up distant repaters with the AR2.) A side by side test @ 25 ft shows the Arrow superior, with power levels down to 5 watts.
Having the dual band capability is an added plus, although there is little local 440 activity at present.

Cons: Not really a 'con', but when handling this antenna it is readily apparent there is no 'center of gravity'. It is not as easy to carry along and prop against a wall as the Ringo.
Also, although they say it is readily 'attic mounted' I found the 57 inch heigh made attic mounting somewhat a challenge. I finally had to compromise mount it at a 45 degree angle to clear the rafters. Still out performs the Ringo even with this compromise.

Between the two antennas, the Arrow wins hands down, although I will keep the Ringo for portable
use as it is easier to handle.

Great Design Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Built my own from the design. OUTSTANDING design, OUTSTANDING performance. I did not used the material as stated. Used in place of the soft material, I used stainless steel whips material. Outstand SWR across 2 AND 440 band. AMAZING!

Looking for survivability Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Our county ARES bought ten of these, at a discounted price, to install at our area Red Cross, emergency shelter sites. These were chosen based on the construction. We were looking for antennas that, if the supports survived hurricane force winds, would still be operable.
