Rugged Amp! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just obtained a very, very clean LK-450. While changing the jumper for input VAC I gave it a very thorough looking over. This amp is built like a tank as are all of the Amp Supply Amps I've ever seen. The single 3-500Z puts out a true KW key down on all but 10 meters into resonant antennas. On 10 I get 750. This one is a keeper and is more than enough amp for most uses.

NICE AMP Time Owned: N.A.
I have owned the lk450 for 3 months and up to now i am very pleased with the amp, construction of the amp is very good with good quality parts used and the single 3-500z (mines a eimac) produces 1kw on 80m and approx 850 watts on 20m,tuning this amp could not be easier and the manual states 70 watts drive for full output, the fan has two settings low and high and i must admit that the fan becomes very loud in the high setting...this amp is worth keeping if you find one.

Great Amp! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
The amp supply lk-450 is one fine made amp. The case is all aluminum, and the vernier drives are great. It really is a well made amp in every way. Mine does about a kilowatt on 80m and around 875 on 20m. This is running it on 120v. It really is a good deal for around 500 dollars, this seams to be about the going price. Almost forgot, very heavy duty band switch and great tuned imput. Again, quality biult amp.

Nice rugged amp. With only a few minor qwirks. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a nice amp. It looks good and it's built like a tank. The chassis and lid are built from some really heavy gauge metal. Meter circuit, rectifier board and QSK boards are thick glass epoxy. Tuning could not be easier. The manual says to always tune for max power. On 20 meters, roughly 70 watts of drive yeilds about 900 watts. And thats staying within the recommended factory grid and plate current limits.

Now for "could be better" stuff.

The fan is nice and quiet in slow speed setting for SSB. But its pretty loud in high speed RTTY setting. When tuning the amp for full power, you can't help but notice some transformer hum mechanically coupled to the chassis. Down sizing the bolts and adding rubber grommets should fix a lot of that. The last thing is that I'm having to change the T/R relay. The T/R relay is fine for tube type rigs, but too slow for newer rigs. My TS-850 sees a SWR spike when I first key up in CW. But you have to remember that this amp is an older amp. These are the reasons why I rate it a "4".

All in all, its a darn good buy at around $0.65 to $0.75 per watt.
