At last! Packet radio for the Handspring Visor! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Palm Pilot owners have been enjoying packet radio for some time, but the Handspring Visor does not include a true RS-232C serial port so interfacing it to a TNC posed a serious problem.

MarkSpace has recently added to its line of interface cables the DCH-M9, a cable that solves this problem neatly and easily. Plug one end into the 9-pin serial port of your TNC (a 25-pin version, DCH-M25, is also available) and the other into the Hotsync port of your Visor or Visor Deluxe. If you haven't already got one, install a terminal program (see my review of MarkSpace's Online 1.6d3) and you're in business!

Please note: This cable is designed to work with the original Visor and the Visor Deluxe. It will NOT work with the newer Visor Platinum and Visor Edge. MarkSpace says that interface cables for those are not yet available (15 July 2001); check their web site for further information.

At $34.95, it's not particularly cheap, but it's well made and certainly does the job.
