Great little 70cm radio Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Used daily for local rag chew on 70cm for FM and SSB, quite a sensitive front end and sturdy as a rock.

Would be nice radio for mobile operation or as a second back up radio for UHF. I have been looking for the BO-9 stand to compliment it without much luck.

Good inexpensive microwave IF radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The TR-9500 is a 432mhz multimode transceiver from a much earlier generation.
The memories need an external high current back up supply and the green LED display quicly washes out in any kind of outside lightand the receiver really needs an external preamp for regular use. That being said, the radio has a standard Kenwood SSB IF filter (YK-88) and takes few shortcuts in the design. Operationally it is a good radio.
I use it as an IF radio for my 10ghz and 24ghz transceivers and have the final bypassed so that the output is less than 100mw. There is little noticable drift, the modulation is good on SSB, and the receiver sensitivity and selectivity are more than adequate for the job. It fit perfectly on top of the transverter. The speaker is on the bottom and slightly tilted.I use and external one. I did re-align the S meter so that it rested just below S-1 and 50uv= S9 on 432mhz. It roved through a tough contest for both weekends and had no problems.
If you are willing to put up with the display and don't use memories, it is a good radio and should be available inexpensively. There are other 432 transceivers out there, but they are probably much more expensive. Otherwise a Yaesu FT-790R or Ft-817 are better IF radios.
