Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This was one of only a few Grief kits I owned (out of about 20) that really worked well for its technology and price. This xmitter could last a 100 years if it was maintained properly. It didn't sound bad on cw and the am modulated 120 watts was good sounding too. If anybody likes am, I don't think anything can get you this power for the going price.

Keeps on Tickin" Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have a DX-100 presently as part of my shack 3870 AM, Northwest.
Great medium power transmitter and very easy to work on. Upon receiving it, I changed out the caps and out of tolerance resistors.
Audio reports with a D-104 have been reported to be very good. It's a fun rig to operate and keeps the shack warm in the winter.. ; )
VFO in this rig is very stable on warmup..(about 5 minutes.)
I use crystals for the Northwest and Westcoast nets.
Hooked up to a Hammarlund 129X, it's a fun station.
I gave it a 5 for one reason. Anything this old, easy to work on and keeps going is a 5 to me.

what memories! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Such reviews brings back great memories; I was mowing lawns in '64 for my radio equipment and was looking at a matching xmtr to replace an old Heath AT-1; couldn't decide on the Viking II or the DX-100; I went with the Heath only because it had a built-in VFO and couldn't afford the Johnson 122 VFO once I got my general; The DX-100 was a good choice and yes those were 1625s in the modulation section. Yes, it did drift a little but really was a great work horse with good audio; I still hear them once in a while on the AMI net on 3870 here in So. Cal. Thanx for reading.

Beautiful old xmtr Time Owned: more than 12 months.
A great old rig. Used mine in the 1970s in high school. A classic.
