MFJ makes anothe fine product Time Owned: unknown months.
I have owned my MFJ-969 Tuner now for 2 years and it is a good honest product. Iusually use it to tune a G5RV on all bands(160-10)including the WARC bands. On 6meters, I use it when operating FM (low swr on the ssb part of band) portion of band, and I have had absolutely no difficulty or failures.
Any product will always have user complaints, but most of them appear to be malcontentsand whiners. I believe those guys would be unhappy with a Mercedes or Porsche!!
Itake my hat off to MFJ, they have a gerat product line.

Good ATU, poor finish Time Owned: unknown months.
I have had my 969 for a year now, but only used it on transmit for a few months since I got my HF ticket. It performs very well indeed, no problems as yet. I have tried a few at hamfests which had a very jerky action on the rollercoaster inductor knob. Also, the paint finish on mine from new is not what you'd call professional. For all that, it works very well indeed. None of MFJ's products are up to the standard of finish of larger manufacturers like Yaesu, Kenwood etc., but they seem to work well enough.

Never a problem, Time Owned: unknown months.
I have used my tuner (same model) with an old Hygain 5 band trap verical I purchased at a garage sail for FIVE DOLLARS. I set the antenna six inches above the ground, attached to a 9 foot ground rod. I followed the plans for the radials. I put the radials one inch below the ground. I use the tuner and my Icom 756 to talk 6 thru 160, yes even 160 meters. I have only been able to make cw contact on 160 with the loss, but the tuner works.

In 2 years - no problems of any kind Time Owned: unknown months.
I have used the tuner for about 2 years nw on all bands 160 - 6 meters, With various antennas including a random wire, and cannot find a single fault. It always works prefectly.

Fine tuner with a few things that need fixing... Time Owned: unknown months.
The MFJ 969 tuner works very well but there are a few things they need to address. When I first bought the tuner it didn't operate properly. A trip to my local ham store (Ham Central in Poughkeepsie,N.Y.) revealed a cold solder joint and a few slightly plates on the dirty roller inductor. 5 minutes later it was back in shape and worked fine.
Now the 2 issues. The meter itself (on my 1 year old unit at least) is held in place with a white plastic post in the rear of the meter. This I found was cracked and eventually broke. Secondly, the roller inductor is driven by a rubber o-ring which slips off from time to time, it seems if you turn the inductor too fast it slips off.
These are the only 2 (well o.k. 4) problems I found. The tuner works very well otherwise.
