A 5+++ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just picked up my IC751A the other day. I had sent it to Scott to repair what I thought was a display issue. I had emailed Scott and from the emails, he gave me an estimate of between $90-100.00 to repair it. His website said because of a huge workload, it would be about 7 weeks until he could look at it. Not a problem for me as it is a backup radio. When he got around to it, he emailed me and said that the main issue was the Piexx rom card, it had a fault he couldn't fix, but for $60.00 he'd put his own unit in. I gave him the go ahead to do what was required. I see by his invoice that he aligned the rig, replaced the trimmer caps, replaced the faulty card with his and gave it a 2 day cycle run to confirm the repair. My cost $165.00 including shipping and packaging (very well done). The radio now not only looks like new, but operates like a new rig.
Scott won't deal with Canadian hams because of shipping costs and border hassles. Not an issue for me as I live within 10 miles of the border.
A job well done Scott, and I've told other hams with Icom equipment in the area that if they want superior service to contact you.

Scott, like others have said previously, I too am sorry to see you go. I get retirement, as I too am retired. I used your services for this 751A, and I sent you others for repair. All done as good as new.
You will be missed by ICOM users for sure. A gentleman and first class tech. Enjoy retirement.

Awesome service and expertise Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Just saw note on Scott’s website that says he is retiring.
So sad to see him go, but I understand.
Thank you Scott for all the great service.
I wish you all the best.

I own several older Icom radios, and some newer ones as well. Scott has serviced or repaired many of my radios over the years. They are always right when I get them back with zero issues. He has an incredible knowledge of Icom radios. I would never send one anywhere else. Thank you Scott!

Icom IC-7000 Repair Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Recently, I was given an IC-7000 that had issues on four different bands: VHF, UHF, 10 and 12 meters. Folks on the IC-7000 group (groups.io) highly recommended Malcom Technical Support for the repair job. Scott was confident he could repair it--and he did! Repair cost was quite reasonable, and the turnaround time was short. I have a good IC-7000 now and also highly recommend Malcom Technical Support.

Icom 706MkIIG Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have an Icom 706MkIIG that I use at my cabin up on the Mogollon Rim in AZ. One lovely winter day it developed a problem. It was recommended by a friend, also a ham, that I contact MTS. That was the best advice I could have gotten. I emailed Scott and described the problem. He had an idea about what was going on. I sent the rig to him the next day. I emailed him a week later and got a report that it was on the bench. A couple of days later I got an email from Scott that it was ready for shipment back to me. The repair was what Scott had thought initially and the repair was the minimum charge I could have imagined and the return shipping was very quick. I would not hesitate to use his services again. ICOM IC-7000 Excellent Repair Experience Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I acquired an ICOM IC-7000 that would not power up. After trying the obvious I determined it needed more that I could do. I sent it to Scott/MTS in WA because he is an ex-ICOM tech and specializes in these radios so he knows them. The IC-7000 was back working perfectly in less than three weeks of which half the time was in transit. He repaired the problem and replaced a bad UHF final transistor. I know the 7000 is not one of his favorite radios to work on and who can blame him with all the microscopic components on both sides of a 4 layer board. Nevertheless he still took on the task and for that I thank him. The cost was extremely reasonable and communication between is was great.

I am happy to recommend Scott Malcom/MTS for competent, fast service at reasonable cost. The shipping costs to and from WA may be significant especially for a heavier radio from the East Coast but a mobile or portable radio in a USPS Flat Rate box would be fine.

Excellent Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Scott gave a preliminary diagnosis about the problem with my IC-706. Then the repairs were made within the time he gave at the price he quoted. The radio is in my go kit. I don't use it much and did not want to pay a whole lot for its repair or replacement.

This experience was better than what I have had with "factory" repairs. The turnaround time was much less and so was the cost.

Great Job on my Icom 745 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Sent a 745 that I picked up that had been sitting in a basement for 35 years. It had multiple problems and Scott diagnosed quickly and charged a fair price and super fast turnaround. I would highly recommend Scott's service!

Icom r75 mods Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Sent my icom r75 in for Rado 1.1 am/sync mod and also audio mod time in shop and shipped back home was about 3 weeks my r75 is a dream now with the AM/sync staying on it whines a lot when you tune it but that was not Scott's fault that's just a part of the mod but for it to lock on to the station it does it excellently Scott was patient Fair the rates and prices were fantastic he is really a bright bright individual and very trustworthy

Fixed my ICOM 7100 fast and inexpensively. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
ICOM IC-7100 would not transmit on both HF and VHF/UHF. Scott found the driver that fed both finals and replaced it way quicker and for less than I expected.

If the need arises I will use MTS again.

Thanks Scott for the great service!
