He gets my business Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I sent an Icom IC-251A that needed repair to Scott. Not only did he do a super job finding the fault in the receiver, but he also took the time to align the TX and RX, and even clean the front panel. It looks mint right out of the box. Even though the round trip postage was something like $95, his fee of $50 or so for the repair was well worth it. The radio hears super well compared to before, and his alignment makes it a super kick-butt radio. Makes it a real joy to come home from work and give the radio a QSO or two.

I recommended him to a buddy who needed an old radio fixed up, and he seemed to have done a gang-buster job on that one too.

Excellent Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Did a really great job of resurrecting my IC-746pro after a near lightening strike. Had to replace driver and finals but its been working great ever since. Worked hard to keep parts costs to a minimum. Quick turnaround. Even helped me later via email in making a minor repair to CI-V interface! My only disappointment was that I shipped my radio to MTS doubleboxed with the inner box being the original Icom box with styrofoam packing, but got the radio back in a plain box without a great deal of packing material (but the radio had no damage). I like to keep the original boxes for transporting my radios to field day, moving, etc.

Great service! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Add my voice to the chorus of praise for Scott's work. My 751 recently went belly-up and after searching the forum here decided to give MTS a go. I got a quick turn-around, even over the holidays. Great communication as well. Before proceeding he offered alternatives which would save me money. Who does that these days? Even the full price was less than I expected so I went with the whole program. He touched up the alignment, changed a few other suspect parts before they failed too, and had it on the truck back home within hours. Needless to say the rig was returned working perfectly. He also included the bad parts he removed. No one wants their rig to fail but if it does, MTS is the place to go.

Could be no better Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Scott is a fantastic technician on ICOM equipment.

I am an ICOM guy and cannot speak as to other

"Brands"

Scott works wonders with ICOM items. I recently

sent him an ICOM H/T that had been into pretty

hard by someone, he has worked wonders with it

and it is back to life in great shape.

My highest recommendation, he is quick, does

great work, is reasonable and also has quick

turn around times, seven great experiences so

far.....A+++++

Used MTS twice, extremely pleased both times, recently he resurrected an Icom IC-2KL, did an
outstanding job and equipment works as new.

Only way I believe his service could be better
is if it was GRATIS.

I can't really believe ICOM let him go.

fantastic repair on a blown icom 706MKIIG, the VHF/UHF PA took a jolt and damaged the PA board, but Scott fixed the HF side to work and cleaned the radio like new.His repair and cost was great. He is your choice in HAM Repair Look No Where else.....

Another satisfied customer Time Owned: more than 12 months.
MTS fixed my Icom 735 recently. It needed some work on the VFO encoder, PLL modifications, and a narrow CW IF filter installed. I'm very happy with the service and recommend MTS highly. I communicated to Scott exclusively via email which was convenient for me. Turn around time was about ten days.

Excellent work as always! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Earlier this year, I purchased a used Icom 735 on Ebay. The seller assured me that the radio worked fine. I think my winning bid was something like $375. Well, I received the radio, and all was not fine. The radio was packaged well, but there was intermittent power output on several bands. I would be having a QSO on a band like 20 meters, and suddenly the transceiver would have no power output. I did some searching on the Internet, and all indications pointed to the trimmer capacitors in the radio having gone bad. I understand that this is a common problem with the Icom 735. I decided to send the radio to Scott to have him take a look at it rather than attempting to order the replacement capacitors from Icom and attempt the repair myself. I wasn't sure if the radio had other problems besides the trimmer capacitors being bad, so off the radio went to MTS. Scott repaired the problem and checked several other things on the transceiver for me. The transceiver was returned in record time, and at a very reasonable price. The seller agreed to reimburse me $75 for the repair costs to the radio. If you have an Icom or Kenwood transceiver in need of repir, Scott Malcom is your man!

I have always had great service when dealing with Scott at MTS. I bought an Icom 720A on eBay several months ago that needed to be serviced. I knew when I bought the rig that it would need to be repaired, so I decided to sent it off to MTS based on the reviews I had read here on eham. Scott was always fast with a reply whenever I e-mailed him about the radio, and I even called once to ask him some questions about Icom rigs in general. The guy that sold me the 720 failed to mention that it did not have the RF board in it. Scott told me the RF board had been removed, and that the radio might have been damaged from a lightning strike or power surge. I decided not to have the radio repaired, based mostly on the age of the radio, but Scott was very helpful and patient with me on the repair. I recently needed a mic for an Icom 730 that I bought, and I e-mailed Scott about building a mic with a preamp in it since the HM-7 is hard to find these days. Scott told me he could build a mic for the radio, and his price was fair too. Most of the other Icom repair centers I e-mailed either told me they didn't build mics or they wanted an arm and a leg just to build one with the preamp circuitry in it. The guy at Avvid simply e-mailed me and said, "I pass on mic building." That's fine, I pass on ever having Avvid work on any Icom or Kenwood radio that I may ever have that needs to be repaired. I sent Scott a credit card number on a Wednesday afternoon, and figured it would probably be several weeks before I got the mic. No problem. Scott e-mailed me the next day and told me he had the mic built and that it was on its way. I was surprised when I checked my mail on Saturday and the mic had arrived! Now that is fast service and shipping from Washington State to Kentucky! I'm not sure what problem W8MMN had with MTS, but I have always had great service with MTS. Scott has even replied to my e-mails on the weekend! I don't know too many repair centers in any electronics service that will do that. Bottom line, if you have an Icom or Kenwood radio that is in need of repair or service, I would send it to MTS to be looked at. I don't think you will be disappointed. I will only use MTS for my Icom and Kenwood repairs, if I ever need any.

Excellent Icom Repair Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Let me add my accolades to the service provided by Scott Malcom at MTS. Scott first repaired an Icom M700 for me in 2003 and just recently, a Icom IC-746. Both times his service was fast, professional and reasonable. His email communication is excellent. He repacks the equipment in a professional manner for shipment. MTS is a first class professional operation.

Scott did a great job fixing my Icom and charged a very fair price. He even went above and beyond by offering to save me money on the return shipping.
