THE repair shop for Icom Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using Scott, when needed, for several years. Exactly how many years is an already foggy number!!
He knows what he is doing with Icoms OLD-OLD and New, his rates are unbelievably reasonable,he gets equipment repaired and shipped in good time. I have NEVER had to send a radio back a second time for the same problem, it gets repaired correctly the first time,AND he answers emails!!! I have NO qualms about recommending MTS as a First Class repair shop.

THE REAL DEAL Time Owned: more than 12 months.
There's a reason Scott gets all these great reviews, he is good at what he does, has a quick turn around time and is very fair in his pricing. Scott also does an outstanding job in packing your rig for return shipping.

My Icom-703 was repaired by Icom in warranty, a second time by a dealer, and this time by Scott. While I would be reluctant to purchase another Icom rig, Scott would be my first choice should it require repair.

Great service and much more Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Based on dozens of MTS reviews on this form, you probably already know what
an outstanding repair service Scott Malcom provides at MTS. You can add this
one to his long list of satisfied customers.

My Icom-765 was purchased from a good friend who believed a recent repair of
an intermittent RX problem had been fixed by ICOM. In fact, ICOM had failed
to repair the problem, twice. I opted to send the rig to Scott, who was
determined to track down the cause. He traced the problem to a bad antenna
relay. After replacing the relay, he bench tested and burned in the relay
for nearly 2 weeks, to insure the problem was fixed.

Clearly, Scott loves what he does....fortunately for us. His work is
professional, honest, and worth every dollar he charges. Speaking of
charges, they are refeashingly fair and modest. Don't hesitate to place your
prized transceiver in Scott's care. It will be returned, most likely, in
better shape than it was sent originally! And finally, Scott is eager to
help and responds quickly to emails requesting estimates and repair
information.

A+ Classic Icom repair Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I picked up an Icom IC-211 at a local hamfest last month from the original owner.
While comestically excellent, the seller noted that the radio had been repaired once by Icom (late 1980s) and recently by a former Motorola tech.
The radio had no RF output and did not hear well. Since this radio is almost 30 years old, Scott at MTS was the logical choice for his Icom knowledge and bench experience to evaluate and repair this classic IC-211 model.
Scott gave me a very good evaluation of the previous work performed (one good an the other NOT so good)
1. Icom Service had previously updated the PLL section (replacement of DC-DC converter capacitors, address through holes on PC boards)
2. More recent repair(s) were obvious -- an ECG part used for the final (bad), RCVR diodes in a hodge podge (Scott had to rebuild that area), PLL detuned, RCA jack and one case screw missing.
Scott corrected those issues and replaced the 144-146 (14.7 PLL) crystal (it was 10kHz low) as well as missing parts.
He aligned, cleaned and then burned in for 24 hours -- then checked the operation and alignment again.

What can I say? Quality work!
Repairs for Classic Icoms (now over 25 years old) require a craftsman touch and Scott has that touch and approach.
Expensive? NO, very reasonable work/labor rate.
The Icom IC-211 now works (and looks) like new.

I wish I could give MTS a 6 ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Absolutely outstanding! MTS received my radio on Mon 7/7 and it was repaired and ready to ship on Thurs 7/10. My 756 Pro 3 had lost all RX, had low output on 20m, and seemed to have a problem with the Mic Gain. The radio now functions perfectly and output exceeds 100W !! Fantastic service and a fantastic price! I was amazed that the repair and return shipping was less than $150. If you need an Icom radio repaired Scott at MTS is undoubtedly the best!

Simply the Best Time Owned: more than 12 months.
One of the greatest things about Scott is his excellent communications during every step of the repair process. He works with you to find the most cost effective solution to your problem that would be most beneficial to YOU not to him. Try that with Icom or most other repair services. I had an Icom 706 MkIIG with blown finals and after exploring several possible options we decided to go with a new type final board from Icom. Expensive but all things considered it was the most reliable way to go. His labor rates are extremely reasonable and turn around time is exceptional. Got a broken Icom, send it to Scott. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Scott.

Here's another good guy report for Scott. I sent my IC-706MkIIG in for repair and the rig was turned around in a timely fashion with an EXTREMELY reasonable repair cost. These days it's really nice to deal with an honest professional. If you have service needs Scott's your man. All your emails will be answered promptly even on weekends. Thanks Scott.

Got my IC-730 right Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I got a IC-730 on Ebay for a good price after reading a review on Eham. It worked for 30 minutes before an intermittent problem with the PLL board "took over". This turned into a frustrating saga and Scott ended up holding onto the radio to wait for a "parts" IC-730 to come along with a good PPL. Took a while but a week ago I got the email that my rig is ready. And it is now perfect. This guy is great to deal with, send your broken ICOM to him.

After reading the reviews here I sent Scott the IC-730 I bought on Ebay ("works great, not DOA"). Yeah, I know. Read MTS's reviews here. Anyway, after describing the trouble (via Email) I got a rough estimate (fast reply) and some hope it could be fixed. Off it went. Got it back in about 3 weeks including 12 days in the hands of UPS. He did full alignment and pre-amp mod, the total cost with shipping was less than estimate and VERY FAIR. Great communication. My radio works great now and my total cost still left me with a good deal and good radio. Send your Icom to Scott if it needs work! Thanks again. W6SZG

Amazing Service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently sent Scott two Icom radios to work on and wondered about the advisability of sending them across-country to be worked on--the shipping was more than $100!

Wow, what service, communication and bargain prices! MTS worked on my rigs and communicated every step of the way. The bad news was that my 746 Pro had blown finals, not only that, it kept blowing them!

Scott dug through and solved the problems. When I got the bill I thought it couldn't include the shipping charges, but it did. Amazing work, technical ability and turnaround. I sent two radios with major problems and Scott turned them around within one week.
