Another Terrific job! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I recently dispatched another of my icom radios, this time my ic-7000, to Scott for repair. The 440 FM audio was sounding pretty bad.

Upon receipt of the unit Scott troubleshot and diagnosed the problem: an off frequency crystal in the RX DDS circuit. He emailed me with the test results and a cost estimate. As usual he was more than fair in this matter.

With my approval he performed the repair and had it back to me in short order. Upon receiving the radio I reinstalled it in the shack and tested. PERFECT!!!

Thanks again, Scott, for another job well done!

If you need radio repairs, take a look at his website for the particulars. You will be more than pleased with his work.

Icom 746PRO Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had the radio out of service for about more than a year. Never had much trust on sending to someone I have never met. Never really send any radios for repairs. I contact Malcolm and he was quick, and always responded to my emails. Had the radio back in 30 days. Radio is working great now. He had to replace the mosfet. Price was good. Its the shipping that kills the price. The radio was worth spending the money. I would have done the job myself five years ago, but my hands are a mess and my eye sight is bad. 73's

Fantastic Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
this past January I bought a ICOM R70 communications receiver at a hamfest. Just from the looks of the radio it looks like it was very well taken care of no scratches or marks on the radio. But then when I hooked it up I was very disappointed the receiver didn't seem to have the sensitivity and the frequencies were out of line. So I e-mailed Scott told him my situation with the radio he was willing to take a look at. Yes he did find issues with it and explain what all he could do something was able to bring the radio back to life. When I finally got it home it was packed great there was no damage and when I hooked it up the radio came to life more so than ever before. It is a lot of fun using this radio. Yes I would use Scott again. Thank you Scott for the find service.

Icom and Kenwood expert tech Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been the recipient of Scott's excellent service before and he recently helped me with an encoder problem on a Kenwood TS-570S that I am trying to sell. The Mult/Ch encoder was malfunctioning and I received the wrong replacement from California. Scott then took the old encoder apart and cleaned it of the substance that had kept it from working properly. He re-installed the encoder after testing it and shipped the panel assembly back to me quickly at a very fair price. Now I can proceed with the sale.
I am currently operating an Icom 756Pro3 and I will definitely send it to MTS if I need any repairs or mods. Highly recommended!

ICOM surgeon extraordinaire Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Scott has been doing this for a LONG time. Accordingly, he has seen just about everything that can go wrong with ICOM radios so the chances of your problem being something brand new to him is low. That experience is priceless and results in lower repair costs since he doesn't have to do extensive troubleshooting to identify a problem he is familiar with. Scott has zillions of 5-star reviews and just a couple of angry outliers. I don't know what happened in this tiny fraction of cases, but I've never had anything but excellent service and repairs from MTS. We are lucky to have Scott as ICOM no longer supports much of the gear that he still works on. I'd give MTS six stars if I could.

Scott is a true genius on Icom 751's. I think he knows what every component does and what happens when it changes value or fails.

I had restored a $100 "junker parts unit" Icom 751A to operating status. I was proud. I raised it from the grave and could make QSOs, but it had some remaining nagging problems that just stumped me including an intermittent one.

Scott fixed everything and also installed a non volatile RAM board so I could stop sweating about whether my Li battery would fail and make the set inop. The final price was very reasonable, which is because Scott is honest and able to make very fast diagnosis and repairs. His reviews speak for themselves. I am done looking for Icom geniuses. I've found one. His name is Scott Malcom, owner of MTS.

Great Guy with Great Service 5* Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My Icom IC-820H developed an RF output problem on the UHF side. After about a year living with the problem I decided to give Scott an MTS a try at repairing my Icom. From the first quick response on email, I knew why Scotts ratings are soooo good here on eHam. We did have a small hiccup but Scott was ready for an equally fair solution to the 2nd round problem. Never met the man, but sure would like to as he seems to be the kind of guy you would like to find out more about. I know that in the future if any of my ham gear need help I will send it to Scott at MTS with Total Confidence...
Scott wants to make sure his customers are satisfied with his work and that really shows with his proud work ethics.

Thank You - SO Very much Scott!

Icom HT repair. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My IC-T8A HT stopped working on the battery. Icom service said the radio was no longer serviceable. A local ham friend of mine recommended Scott Malcolm. In a quick response to my email to him, he diagnosed the problem and provided the very reasonable repair cost. I sent the radio to him, and in just a few weeks I received the handset back, repaired and very well packed. The problem was exactly as he diagnosed without even seeing it. I am very happy with his service.

good experience Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I wanted to say that Malcolm was a great help to me.

My Icom 706 ,k2g was having some issues and I was ready to pack it up and send it to Malcolm. I talked to him on the phone explained what what going on and he suggested it was operator error on my part ;-)
He was RIGHT!! After checking the radio and following his suggestions the problem disappeared!!
I would highly recommend MTS to anyone wanting a repair and/or advice!
