Excellent! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
While I've been hamming most of my life, I'm just a "lay" ham, no super duper electronic design or professional level technical expertise, but I have to say I am crazy about this radio, and I've only had it for a few days.

The DSP is every good thing anyone has written about it. No ringing, and the best selectivity I've ever seen. I also do some SWL broadcast listening. As you slowly tune across a station and reach the threshold on either side that the filter is set for, it just flat cuts out, with no spillover, like the signal was never there. This is what one would expect good filtering to do, and perhaps older radios with roofing filters and other after market add-ons may experience this. But Icom's DSP and filtering are very adaptable and customizable.

The spectrum scope is like adding sight; I could never go back to a radio without it.

I bought a new Yeasu FT-1000 MP Mark V in 2005, and the ProII is more sensitive than the Yaesu. Using the same antenna, I can hear low power AM special purpose stations that were merely hinted at on the Yaesu (airport, etc.).

It sure makes me wonder what they could do to make $6-10,000 radios worth all that extra cash.

Fine Radio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned the 756PRO2 for several years. This is a very dependable radio and has not given me any trouble at all. It has a very good receiver, and I get very good audio reports in the wide transmit setting. I am very pleased with this transceiver and would buy it again.

I traded a TS870 and feel that I now have twice the radio. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just bought thie 3 year old PRO 2 from Burghardt and I've found out that Burghardt is THE place to buy used radios. On Burghardt's used list the radio was marked "AVG" condition. When received it was packed in a brand new PRO III carton, ALL spare stuff was brand new in factory sealed plastic bags, and the radio looked like it just came out of the box! Either the previous owner had never used the radio or Burghardt had put brand new top and bottom covers on the radio.
I'm very impressed.

6 meter TX oscillation Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When new and under warranty, 2002, it developed the dreaded 6 Meter transmit oscillation design problem where it locks up at full power, and transmits at some unknown frequency. Icom Bellvue new of the issue and gladly fixed it. Now 4 years later it is back for service for the very same problem. Guess who gets to pay for it this time. During the 4 years that it worked I was extremely pleased with it. Noise blanker and noise reduction, notch, and the multitude and controlability of the DSP bandwith filtering was awesome. It sure makes XTAL filters look like dinosours.

Favorite Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I own and operate a TS-2000, 706MkIIg, FT-100, and an FT-817. I have owned and operated an FT-840 and FT-847. None of these rigs compare for HF work. When I decided to get a $2000 class rig 3 years ago it was a toss up between the FT-1000 series and the 756Pro2. I chose the Pro2 because it was much easier for me to use this radio interface wise. The receiver in this radio is wonderful. The display is great. It is hard to improve the reputation this radio has with my short review. If this radio had a catastrophic failure it will be replaced with a Pro3.

LOVE IT Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Recently I was trying to decide on buying a new 756 Pro III or a used Pro II. I read the ARRL reviews and comparisons, as well as everything else that I could find. Also, I operated both rigs (while visiting the shacks of friends). I decided on a used Pro II. I found a mint one for $1,500 (most are running between 1,650 - 1,800) - so I bought it. Great decision on my part! Simply an awesome rig & I saved $1,500!

I am especially impressed with the receive and transmit audio. And with the IF stage DSP ... the rig is complete.

If you can find a mint 756 Pro II, buy it. The difference between a used Pro II & a new Pro III can be better used buying other toys.

Great Radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
The IC-756pro II is a high-performance radio that will fill the requirements of most discriminating operators.

I've owned some great radios, FT 1000mp MKV Field TS 870s, TS 2000, FT-1000mp(stock), 756 Pro. ThE Pro II's ability to pull weak signals out of the noise is very impressive.
If I have to pick a weak issue it would be filtering. You just can't beat crystal filters.
With that said this Pro II is simply a great transceivers, I would buy it again..

They say if you can't hear 'em you can't work 'em, true ! The IC-756pro2's receiver is second to none in terms of sensitivity and selectivity. In a real-world operating environment with an A/B test the pro2 and my MKV Field, the field overall performance is slightly better. However, the pro II is a fun radio. The display is just fantastic, the receiver audio is awesome, C/W is simple, the overall layout to operate is organized, and a very easy to learn menu system. You can't help not loving this little rig.

The front end of the pro2 is much improved over the old 756 Pro, (had one till lightning took her out). When talking about digital filtering, In the sense that it provides the operator much greater signal isolating flexibility when copying weak signals with strong adjacent signals on the band. Also, extremely strong nearby signals don't weaken the receiver front end. Even superb analog transceivers with the best filters can't provide the brick-wall selectivity that the pro2's advanced DSP filtering provides.
Transmit audio? I run a Shure SM58 and 8 band eq, simply said, “kick butt audio”.

Cost? Hummm I'm married to Mrs squeaky,
Need I say more?
