Still 5/5 after 6 years! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using my 2el SteppIR extensively for 6 years without any problem. Only the chip had to be replaced some 4 years ago, not an issue. Yes, I have a pneumatic tower and can lower it to a comfortable working level - but so far... I only do so during winter storms, just to be on the safe side! And the rubber sleeves still look like new. May I add that the control unit is grounded and the control cable disconnected whenever I leave the shack.
Still very happy with the SteppIR!

simpley the best Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My 3 ele steppir has been up for around 5 years, no problems as of yet..:) it is simpley the best hf beam I have ever owned. Great support from the factory, no problems as of yet, and super performance. it is always resonant on every band in every segment.

WOW Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a steppir dipole which i made into a 2 element. The only thing i can say is WOW, iam hearing stuff i could not hear with the dipole.. Adding the extra element was very easy and help for the steppir crew was outstanding.. You have to convert the dipole driver to a passive element by cutting the shield from the coax inside and solder it to the center conductor of the coax.. Then follow the instructions and you a good to go.. Iam only up 12 feet as i have HOA but receiver is more than triple and transmitt is outstanding.. I have had no problems with the dipole and so far none here with the 2 element.. Thanks steppir.. 73 Bob Reno Nv

Needs Tune-up: Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Works great for a time. Make sure it is installed on a crank-up or tilt-over antenna support structure for easy service. Reminds me the days when I had to tune-up my MG-Roadster every Saturday.

NOT 5 anymore Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When i first wrote about this antenna, i had the antenna only for a short while.
Now i have had it up for more than 4 years, and there been several problems , first with controller, the chip or board went wrong after short while, the rubber boots was in a poor cond after only 3 years, and lately the swr has gone up on 15 and 17m, the director is not possible to move from the controller, so i think it is something mecanic problems, i will find out when i get it down, because i have to paint the elements again, original paint did not protect it against UV .
The antenna is fantastic when it work, but boring when you have to climb up and down to repair it.It will work ok for a while, but 3-4 years is NOT good enough, they have to make it a lot better.
I did call it the best antenna on the marked, but thats NOT correct anymore.
But one thing is positve, and that is the SUPER service from Rone Stone at Wine antenna, he do what he can to help .This review is very honest, and i would not buy this antenna again, to many moving parts, and weak materials.

I Love It Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I bought my 3 element with the 40/30 dipole used it was 6 months old at the time. I have it mounted on a 4.5 foot Glen Martin roof tower on the house at 35 feet. So far I have worked over 100 countries and all 50 states. I replaced a Cushcraft A3S and found a remarkable difference not only in the F/B but the received signals. Some might find the Hash when the antenna is changing Bands/Frequency not to their liking but the preformance more than makes up for it. If you do not own one yet find someone who has one and see if you can operate it, once that happens you will be placing an order for one that I can grantee. I know they are not cheap but remember "Your Station Is Only As Good As Your Antenna" and thats where to put your money for a excellent station.

Needs regular maintenance Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Installed my 4 el, on 80' of Rohn guyed tower in October 2005. One fiberglass element came down in a wind earlier this winter. Now I need to bring it down to replace all the rubber boots. The factory is good on furnishing the new boots and another pole at no charge.

I'm an engineer, and like this antenna when it operates. But the SteppIR should be installed on a telescoping tip over tower with a tilt plate, so the owner can easily get to it for regular maintenance.

I did not realize the maintenance requirements for this antenna when I installed it. I was on top of the tower to install it, but with my bad knees, I cannot regularly climb the tower, and get the antenna down for servicing, especially in Alaska winters.

There are lots of things that go wrong with the SteppIR antenna. Factory support is good, and the signal reports are good when it works.

More Than I Expected Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I installed my SteppIR @ 60ft 10-10-07 and so this is the 2nd winter. So far no problems at all and the performance is just outstanding. On 17m every time I am on the air running barefoot (200w IC 7700) I get comments saying you are the strongest signal I am seeing on my scope etc. This thing is just a terror and the front to back is awesome. The front to back is so good I need to listen in the bi direction mode to not over look stations that are s-9 but I won't hear in the normal mode. Lately about 4pm CST I beam into Japan, call cq JA only and within 5 mins I will have several JA's piled up on me. This antenna just works like no other I have ever used. Like my summary says it is "more than I expected" I thought surely this thing can't be as good as others said but it is. As far as trouble free it has been so far (only 15 months) but an antenna this good I won't mind doing if needed some service over the years. Most antenna's you put up will need some care and feeding. You just have to sit down underneath one of these antennas with a good receiver to fully understand the awesome performance on each band with the instant 180 degree switch and bi directional ability and monobander performance on EVERY Frequency.

wonderful antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have got the 3 elements SteppIR since 3 months and I'm very satisfied of this aerial. My setup is a ICOM 756 Pro III which is the best companion of my antenna. When I move the tuning on the rig, the Fluidmotion control box follows the rig and the Steppir does tune on every frequency. The plus is that this antenna is a good teaching instrument for understanding the behavior of an aerial in environmental changing conditions. I guess it will work for a long time.
