This radio is perfect for the size and money...alm Time Owned: unknown months.
I purchased the 9440(40 is my favorite band) in October of 1998, and after using this little dandy for more than a year, I can say that I am very pleased with the performance, and wouldn't hesitate to buy the 20/75 meter versions. However, it does have some considerable drawbacks:not xit/rit friendly, not readily able to go lower in power, and most importantly-the original CW adapter was faulty, causing the radio to literally "die"-caution when performing this transformation!!!! But for the money, the stock 9440 is a decent enough radio, with a nice quiet and sensitive receiver to satisfy the beginner or the pro

MFJ9440 40 Meter SSB Rig Time Owned: unknown months.
I've operated the MFJ now for about a year. This is after owning the MFJ-75 Meter rig earlier. The radio performs exceptionally well. I run mobile with either a Hamstick type antenna, or a Texas Bug Catcher. Naturally the Bugcatcher does better but hey, this is a review for the MFJ radio. I get consitantly good reports when I check into SOUTHCARS (7251 KHZ) A good report is S-5 or better. The biggest complement is the transmit audio. This is with a stock mic! The receiver is hot and surprisingly not to bad with the noise from my F-150 pickup. I just installed the CW adapter and I will keep you posted on how it performs.

MFJ-9406, get on 6M with great audio and a sensit Time Owned: unknown months.
I picked up the rig this year at the Dayton Hamfest. I was making 1200 mile contacts the first day I had it on the air. My antenna is a 80M half wave zep fed with 450 ohm ladder line. Not your best signal thrower on 6M. I "hill" top with the unit at 11,600 feet elevation here in Colorado's Front Range. At this elevation I use a 3-element beam and a tree cutting pole (minus the saw attachment) as a mast. One minus on the rig is it's lack of noise blanker. Mobile
operation with my Subaru is tough.

Great QRP 6 Meter Radio - worked 2 countries in 2 Time Owned: unknown months.
I purchased this radio one year ago, and I get a big bang out of it still, this is a SSB / CW mode radio only (No FM!) covers 50.0MHz to 50.3MHz with a maximum 8 watts output. I worked two countries in two weeks (Canada and Mexico) as well as NC, CO, AZ, NM, WA....
I used a 3 element Yagi 20 feet up with a TV rotator. (Great for the no code tech's out there.) I would like to see more people on the band!!!!
