Great Antenna! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have found this to be a great antenna. I use mine ground mounted w/o radials. In this configuration it does not do well trying to work ground wave on 10M but that is to be expected when ground mounted. It has some of the best instructions I have ever seen. VSWR is 2 to 1 or better on most of the spectrum except for 80M which requires tunning. There are other antenna designs that will out work it most definately but... for someone like me with a back yard that is 95' X 30', it is just the ticket.

Outstanding Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The 5BTV is a fantastic antenna. The installation was fairly simple, the hardest part was driving the mast into the ground. I have it ground mounted with no radials and it works great on all the bands. I have worked into Europe, South America and had a shot at Chagos (Diego Garcia), and I have only had the antenna up for about a week! I have done all this barefoot (100w). My signal reports are always great and usually, if I can hear a station, I can work them. I would highly recommend this antenna to anyone.

Hustler wins! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The 5BTV was a present from Santa, but I did not get it up until the first week of January. In addition to weather/assistance issues, I had a bad 10m trap. When the tuning got tough, I called Hustler and within 30 seconds was on the phone with the right person in the right department!!!! I didn't even have to talk to a machine at all. A real person answered the phone! Anyway, I sent the bad trap to Hustler and they sent me a new one in a very timely fashion.

My helpers and I got the antenna installed and tuned up pretty easily. We did have to adjust the traps. Just be careful and all will go well. It is ground mounted with the radials as suggested in the instructions. I have since added two more radial on 80m and will add more, but wow! Sure, I'd like to have it on top of the house, but it's definitely not necessary.

I live in Arkansas and can get good reports from coast to coast on 40m running barefoot. I couldn't do that with my other HF antenna: an 80m loop at 30 feet. The loop has done better at times on the higher bands, but to be able to flip the band switch and go without an antenna tuner is great.

Even had I paid for this one myself, I'd give it a 5/5 and I'd give Hustler's customer service a 7/5!

Thanks to Santa and kudos to Hustler.

Buy It! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This isn't magic but if you eant a RESONANT antenna that allows NO TUNER needed on al but 80M (then 40Kc of that one) then get this one. I have a G5RV up at 35' & chose ground mount for the 5BTV. Performance is the same or BETTER on all bands. Only drawbck I see is if you want close (groundwave) on 80M is tough unless the other is on a vertical too. Elevated (roof top) is the best but I wanted to try ground mounted & I'm glad, see you on the bands (without my tuner). 73's Jon, KC5LVW

Best Antenna Value - Period Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is my third 5BTV. This time it's ground mounted, but the ground happens to be located on a mountain top, so just about any antenna will play well here. The Instructions are the best I've ever seen for any product - period. Very easy assembly. The antenna went up in 45 minutes and I've spent hours running radials over rocky ground. The Hustler is located about fifty feet from a Butternut Vertical and both play about the same. The Hustler gives huge value for the dollar.

Very good Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This is my first vertical, put it together and up in 45 min, easy to follow instructions. It is excellent for small spaces. Have it ground mounted with no radials. I have worked all Europe, West Asia and East US on about 10watts (yes 10 watts). Excellent on 10,15,20 and ok on 40 (have not used the 80M section yet). And would u believe it even works well on 6M, with vswr at about 1.6. Great value for money.

real good well built Time Owned: more than 12 months.
this thing works with or without radials and the price is right. If you need a good antenna that works as well as any other vertical I have used this is it.

Timex of ham radio! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Hustler 5BTV is not perfect and doesn't do it all (so what antenna will?), but for the price, it is a great antenna, especially if you feed it with a tuner. Good quality, decent design, reasonable price makes the Hustler trap verticals the Timex of ham radio antennas.

Easy to set up, good performer Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
After moving to a house with a small lot, I decided to try a vertical after 20 years of wire antennas. The Hustler seemed a good buy. I am very pleased with the antenna. Set up was simple. Using the measurements that are recommended, the SWR on all bands but 80 were right on. 75/80 takes a little tweaking. Mine is ground mounted on with 4 radials for each band over Florida sand. I never have any trouble working any station I can hear with my barefoot IC718.

Easy set up Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My experience with antennas is minimal. When I started setting up the 5btv I was hoping to get marginal results. Not from the antennas design, but due to my experience.
Setup was a breeze, and when I fired up my rig I was very supprised with the swr results. I will not have to use my transmatch anymore. I still have to install more radials, and tune the 75 meter part of the antenna. So far, so good. I would recomend this antenna to any beginner to the HF bands
