Get an Alinco Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I got the PS-125 "free" with my IC-756ProIII as part of the closeout deal. I am glad I did not pay for it. The fan was loud from the beginning and started screeching after about three months. I just set it aside and forgot about it. I hooked up my long time Alinco DM-330MV which is silent. I found the PS-125 the other day and decided to replace the fan with one with the same part number and specifications from Mouser. This fan is just as loud as the original but it does not screech. The PS-125 fan is much louder than my ProIII fan cooing a hot radio. The noise is a deal killer because I often operate psk in the family room with other family members present.

I received the PS-125 "free" with the ProIII. A screeching cooling fan prompted me to write this. That just started. When operating normally in the receive mode the fan cylcles about every 45-60 seconds. It comes on for any transmission. It was loud and annoying even before the screeching started. In contrast my Alinco DM-330MV which I have used for five years almost never turns the fan on even when transmitting; and when it does it is very quiet. I guess that is why they have to give away the PS-125 because nobody who knows anything about the PS-125 would voluntarily pay for one.

Silently and without EMI Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Although some friends reporting problems of fan noise from PS-125, I did not present this problem. The fan kicks in quite silent. Also have not noticed any problems related to EMI. I just think its pretty high price so I rate 4.

not recommended Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Every now and then one of these comes my way for repair. They're worth just about what most people pay for them. Stick with the Astron linear regulated types. About the only things these switchers have going for them is light weight and low cost. Except, did you ever see what Icom wants for a PS-125 straight out? An inflated list price meant to convey the impression of value when the p/s is included in the price of a new transceiver. The PS-125 is equal parts switching power supply and marketing device.

Too mucho $$$ Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I agree with previous review, it works FB but way too expensive for a switching 12v supply these days.....mine came with 746Pro "free" -- ahuh....my only techie complaint is fan noise when running.

Cheers All!

Electrically works FB -- fan is loud, the XYL hears if from another room and wants to know what "that noise is?"

Very good Time Owned: more than 12 months.
4.5. Too expensive, but my free one with a Pro III worked perfectly for 3 years until I sold it.

Got mine free with my Pro III 2 years ago. Never a problem. I don't notice the fan noise except rarely. For free: take. For buy: take time. Overpriced except when free.

Got mine free. So far no problems, no hash. Wish the
cable to the radio was longer, but can't complain for the price. Makes my ProIII even a better bargain.

Not a good buy. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had one that came with an IC 7400 (IC-746 in the U.S.)I bought on eBay. The fan was too loud and the 12v supply was less stable under heavy demand than the Sharmans PS-30M 30A power supply Ive had in the shack since I moved on from my CB days in the early 1990s, an £89.99 generic supply that has not failed under daily use in almost 20 years.
I know most of you will prefer a more recognised name than Sharmans but whatever you use, its bound to be much less expensive than the massively overpriced PS-125. I give the PS-125 1/5 because it costs about 6 times what its actually worth. I'll let it have 1 because it does looks good but if you want looks, buy a puppy. Im so glad I didn't buy one new.

Super Nice PS Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Wonderful PS.. have owned 3 of these.. many don't know that they can be turned on their sides and with the feet and ICOM label also turned sideways, be a fine match for the IC-7200 or IC-7000... wish the cable were a tad longer, but our friend John Bee at QSRADIO.COM makes great adapters and extension cables to make the 125 work with a variety of rigs.... This is one to buy, and never sell again... powers anything...

WORKS GREAT! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had about 3 of these and every one worked like it should. With the short cord you avoid voltage drop to the radio under full power. I checked mine against a large 30 amp supply using the stock power cord that comes with the radio and the ps-125 wins hands down. I've also purchased the adapter for
6 pin to 4 pin with the newer radios have and it's works great. You can buy a new ps-125 for 159 from Giga Parts and the adapters are about 15 bucks. You can also buy the parts and make your own. I think they are a good value and my ps of choice!

OK Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Got it free with my radio and it works ok. Actually it works excellent but the cable is too short. Made my own extension to solve that problem otherwise a good decent power supply.

NOT PERFECT! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'm an ICOM MAN 100% but the PS-125 was NOT very well designed. The cord that connects with the radio is too SHORT & the fan is too LOUD.Would be nice if it also allowed some way of connecting orher gear to the supply.Had two of these that came with my 756 PROII & 746 PRO & sold both after testing too make sure they worked.I'll keep my ASTRON RS-70M & BE HAPPY!If you purchased one they are way "OVER PRICED"!
