Easy Outdoor tempature Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is what it is. A cheap remote wireless thermometer. Because it operates around 430 Mhz you can hear the remote unit sending about once every 20 seconds-if you are listening in the 70cm bands. The receiver appears to be a sampling super regenerative type, if you are into 70 cm weak signal work you may hear this too. Emission is quite broadband on both RX and TX; the actual frequency seems to wander around a bit. You can purchase extra remote sensors (up to 3-switchable channels) so you can monitor temperatures in different areas. Likewise you can have several indoor units monitoring a single outdoor unit. Range is as advertised. The outdoor units have proven to be weatherproof and battery longevity excellent. I like the large easy to read digits and the settable temperature alarms. Te outdoor transmitters seem to use the same protocol as other Radio Shack and Oregon Scientific systems.

Intererence Time Owned: N.A.
If you happen to be into ATV and use the 434 MHz frequency, forget about receiving ATV stations. Every few seconds it transmits a pulse train on 433 MHz. Even when doing weak signal work on 432, you will experience problems. One night my neighbors unit vanished which solved my problem. It is easier just to watch the weather channel instead of creating interference.

Does what it was designed to Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have had this unit with two remote transmitter/thermometers for over three years. Absolutely no problems. Change the batteries about once a season.

Temperature alert feature is great for keeping track of plants on the deck.

For the price, great unit.

Poor for remote use Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Even with a new set of batteries I can't get the remote temp to show up one floor away or outside. The needed rage is less than 20'. Works with both units on the same table but that is not much help.

Less than expected Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Radio Shack Wireless Thermometer will struggle to get it's signal 50' from transmitter to receiver even when kept in the clear. RS's Specs. indicate a 50-90 foot range (20-30 Meters).
Actual operation is more like 30'. Also be aware that the unit uses 433 MHz and must execpt interference from other sources (like your high powered 70 CM rig). On the bright side, Battery life appears to be better than spec.
I change the cells every 6 months (prior to failure). When this unit is replaced or relocated to another location I will be looking for a 2.4GHz unit.
