Impressed Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Received my Little Tarheel II yesterday, mounted it on the trunk lid (K-400), tuned, and worked G3WXX for my first contact while driving home from work last night. Had my doubts about it's abilities on 80M. Not anymore.

Holy Cow Batman!! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.

Having owned several Screwdrivers, I can honestly tell you that this antenna has it all.

Let me begin by identifying my model, its a Tarheel 100, I am using it at the home QTH only. I was just about to order one when a local ham had a new one in the box with all of the goodies..

The fit and finish is excellent. The CNC machined aluminum parts are machined to tight tolerances and then highly polished and decorated as only a good machinist can.. The color is a custom GM color and looks like glass. All pieces are made of the highest quality materials and it looks great.. This is a top notch antenna and built to stay that way.

Anyway, we know looks arent everything.. I know your asking how it works.. Otherwise you wouldnt be here.. Well the antenna is easy to set up.. Mine has the optional mounting bracket that it good for the hitch mount or mounting it at home.. I also got 4 sets of ground radials with it as well.. I took the time to set it up right and proceeded to hook it up to an FT857D..

I suggest that you run the antenna up and down "lock to lock" a few times. I noticed matching became easier after doing so. I have 1.2 to 1 or less matches on all bands. I am heard as well as my old R-5 I took down..

The antenna moves up and down at a decent pace, going from 10m to 80m will give you some time to get coffee for sure.. :-)

Looking to buy a screwdriver?? This is the one! No cheapo parts, perfect fit and finish. Works like gang busters for a vertical.. Europe, Canada, US etc.. With good signal reports to boot!!

I am in no way affiliated with Tarheel, but they should be proud of their product.. Its an eye pleaser and does what its supposed to.. If you have any questions.. Email me.. Richy N2ZD

Tarheel 100 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This gave me 1:1 SWR on every band. I got the Tarheel 100 on my Toyota Truck with the Icom 706 . Ican"t Speak highly enough of the Tarheel and the Turbo tuner its great. Robert did a great Job helping me on this. But dont for Cindy on the phone. When I call and said hello to her she said HI Phil ? WOW

Little Tarheel II Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is a great mobile antenna! 1:1 SWR on every band with no special grounding (I did remove the paint from where the K400 mount contacts the vehicle however). In combination with a N2VZ turbo tuner and a MK2G, HF mobile is a snap!

SEVERAL YEARS AGO AT DAYTON WAS MY 1ST SITING OF A TARHILL ANTENNA.MY ONLY THOUGHT WAS CAN I MOUNT THIS ANTENNA WITH SOME SORT OF SECURE MOUNT THAT COULD BE QUICKLY DISCONECTED? WELL OF COURSE THEY SAID WE HAVE SEVERAL MOUNTS THAT WOULD WORK-AND THAT IS ALL IT TOOK. THIS IS ONE GREAT ANTENNA WITH GOOD FOLKS BEHIND IT/MY ANTENNA IS UP AND RUNNING JUST GREAT 4YEARS LATER...CHAPLAIN JAMES COURTRIGHT/K8OMP

Tarheel 200 WOW! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Apparently I am not in the minority on this antenna. The Tarheel 200 is as good as everyone says it is. After spending a few weeks figuring out where I'd mount this on my Expedition, the install went very smoothly. In fact I probably spent more time installing the 706/TurboTuner than I did the 200. Total antenna install time was approx 6 hours including making mounting brackets for attaching to the trailer hitch under the vehicle. BIG REMINDER: Follow the grounding suggestions! If your ground isn't perfect, swr won't be either. The only tweak was to spread the coil about 1/2 inch and tuning on 80 was perfect.

Included with the install was a Turbo Tuner. It too was installed/configured without issue. The Tarheel/Turbo Tuner combination works flawlessly!! Everything was plug-n-play.

After a few quick swr checks I was on-the-air in about 30 minutes and made my first 10-over signal with a report of "You're mobile?" Yesterday I made a mobile to mobile contact Pennsylvania to Indiana of 10-over each way.

I can't speak highly enough of the Tarheel!! And the TurboTuner is the way to go for keeping your eyes on the road while tuning. One button and in less than a minute you're tuned up on a new band, and less than 5 seconds within the same band.

Need a mobile antenna, GO TARHEEL!

Little Tarheel Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
A perfect 5.0 after 100 reviews. Are you noticing a trend?

Robert and Cindy have achieved the rare combination of an excellent product backed up by exceptional customer service.

Prior to the sale, Cindy and I exchanged numerous e-mails and telephone calls. She made every effort to be sure that I would be getting exactly what I wanted and that I would be happy with my purchase after the sale. Their efforts didn't stop there, however. Robert actually spent 30 minutes on the phone with me talking me out of buying one of their more expensive antennas, as he was sure I'd be more satisfied with the Little Tarheel!

I'm glad that he did, because I couldn't be happier with this antenna. Installation was simple and went very smoothly. The results have been fantastic! I've worked the world from my mobile and have broken numerous pile-ups that many fixed stations just couldn't get through. I can't wait to see what this antenna is capable of once we get a little help from the sunspot cycle. My favorite signal report thus far: "D@*%, man, you must be runnin' about 10 KW in that mobile..." Not even close. It's all in the antenna...

Little Tarheel II Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased this antenna specifically for a road trip I was taking to Laurel, Maryland last weekend. I purchased the Diamond K400 3/8 mount to match and started my set up at 11:20 PM Friday night. I was done installing (with my son's help) by 11:43 PM. With the suggested TurboTuner from N2VZ, I was tuning from 80 meters to 12 meters - no problem! I was concerned about the mounting of the antenna and how it would hold up against 80+ mph speeds. To my embarressment, it held up perfectly!

This antenna is a perfect match for the TurboTuner (read my review of this device - a perfect match) and the 706MKIIG. I'm considering changing out my Yaesu ATAS-100 installed on my sedan for another Little Tarheel II Antenna. I know the ATAS-100 is on its way out. When it finally dies, I now know what to put in its stead.

Well done, Tarheel Antennas! And a special 'thank you' to Cindy at Tarheel - whom it was a pleasure to work with. She answered all my questions in detail before I made the purchase, as well as afterwards! Customer service and a great product spell 'must-have' for any HF-mobile scenario!
